TIF/TID District Update – Mary gave an update about the benefits of going forward with a TIF district in the village, particularly for the school forest land. The board was briefed at the August meeting about the Finance Committee’s recommendation to start a TIF/TID application with the support of the Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SWWRPC.) The cost for their services will be included in the TIF money awarded. Troy Maggied from the SWWRPC will be at the September board meeting to present the proposal and support Lone Rock’s TIF/TID district decision to apply in 2025. Developing and enforcing progressive building and zoning ordinances, update – The village is working on approving new village ordinances. Dan is in touch with an engineering firm to help assist in with our ordinance project. Future plans for Memorial Walkway – Millie was not present at the meeting, but relayed the message that there are no new plans to expand the school walkway memorial at this time. The new memorial is soon to have an overhead sign installed that over the walkway between the two pillars. Farmers Market – Mary said that the vendors who had booths at the 4th of July Celebration were very happy with their site and business was good. They are all interested in the possibility that Lone Rock have a public market area during the warmer months. This discussion will return to the Q4 meeting agenda set for later this year. Community Building outside sign – 4th of July Committee has proposed investments of community projects including a remodeled counter top in the community center kitchen, a new sign outside the community center or park shelter picnic table refurbishing. Most of the interest for these options were for the outside community center sign. Mary will call a few places to get some quotes from local sign makers. For the next meeting, the agenda will include an update on TIF/TID application and the continued conversation about a village farmers’ market. There was not any new business and the Q4 meeting date has been set for Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 6 PM at the village office. Meeting was adjourned at 7:15 PM.
