Frances Emily Dawson Harris, CD1, commended the many LB businesses that are becoming more and more accessible. A motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez, seconded by Commissioner Pili, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Jessica Marquez, Jamone Pili, Deaka McClain and David Gauthier Absent: 1 - Daryl Crouse STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS AD-HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS The ADA Checklist Ad-Hoc is hoping to bring something forward in November. OLD BUSINESS 2. 17-066CA Recommendation to discuss and approve final recommendations from Mentoring Day 2017 ad-hoc committee. A motion was made by Commissioner Karadjov, seconded by Commissioner Hernandez, to approve recommendation. OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 DISABILITIES MINUTES PM Commissioner Calsita reported that we 21 mentors signed up and are currently recruiting mentees. 3. 17-067CA Recommendation to discuss and approve any final recommendations from Disability Employment Awareness Month 2017 ad-hoc committee. A motion was made by Commissioner Calsita, seconded by Commissioner Hernandez, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Jessica Marquez, Jamone Pili, Deaka McClain and David Gauthier Absent: 1 - Daryl Crouse Date: Thursday, October 26, 2017 Location: Veteran's Park, 101 E 28th Street Food donations and raffle prizes still being worked out Would like for commissioners to wear blue, black and white colors Need to finalize program NEW BUSINESS 4. 17-068CA Recommendation to request the City Manager update the City's Style Guide to include appropriate terminology and phrases used to describe disabilities and people with disabilities. A motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez, seconded by Commissioner Calsita, to approve recommendation. OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 DISABILITIES MINUTES PM 5. 17-069CA Recommendation to receive and file information related to the City's current Disabled Parking (blue curb) Ordinance applied in residential areas and approve any recommendations CACoD would like to make to the City Council. A motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez, seconded by Commissioner Karadjov, to laid over. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Jessica Marquez, Jamone Pili, Deaka McClain and David Gauthier Absent: 1 - Daryl Crouse 6. 17-070CA Recommendation to amend last month's item related to truncated domes so that it is addressed to the city manager and it reads as a recommendation and not a resolution. A motion was made by Commissioner Karadjov, seconded by Commissioner Pili, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7 - Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Jessica Marquez, Jamone Pili, Deaka McClain and David Gauthier Absent: 1 - Daryl Crouse Frances Emily Dawson Harris, CD1, spoke during public comment and added written material into the record to send to the city manager.
