APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
1. 17-077CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the November 9, 2017
meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities.
A motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez, seconded by
Commissioner Marquez, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Youth, Employment & Programs - Commissioner Calsita reported that the committee is still
working on a resources guide for the public.
Accessibility, Transportation & Services - Commissioner McClain reported that the committee
had begun discussions on a future accessibility townhall.
AD-HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS
Community Events ADA Checklist Ad-Hoc - Commissioner Calsita reported that the ad-hoc is
still looking over the new ADA events checklist recently adopted by the City of Long Beach.
Calendar Ad-Hoc - Commissioner McClain suggested that this ad-hoc keep the MLK parade
on the commission's radar for 2019.
OLD BUSINESS
2. 17-078CA Recommendation to continue discussion and approve sending a letter of
recommendation to Mayor Garcia regarding specific accessible features at our
City parks.
A motion was made by Vice Chair McClain, seconded by
Commissioner Calsita, to laid over. The motion carried by the
following vote:

McClain and David Gauthier

STAFF REPORT
Citywide ADA Coordinator Heather Blackmun reported that she is working with Mayor Garcia's
office in filling the three vacancies currently on the commission.
CHAIRPERSON AND/OR VICE CHAIR CLOSING REMARKS
Antonia Herrera, Library Services, was invited by Chair Gauthier to say a few words. Ms.
Herrera reported that the ICPD (Main Library) had finished all of its assistive software
upgrades. Ms. Herrera also reported that the new ICPD (at the new downtown library to open
in 2019) will have a bigger area and more workstations/computers. The main library is already
starting to prepare for the 2019 move.
