ROLL CALL Commissioners Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Deaka Present: McClain and David Gauthier Commissioners Jamone Pili Absent: FLAG SALUTE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION Frances Emily Dawson Harris, CD1, handed out a letter sent to Supervisor Janice Hahn and Senator Kamala Harris regarding her ongoing federal post office project (accessible customer counter with accessible debit/credit machine). Ms. Harris also announced that she has received support from Assemblymember Patrick O'Donnell. OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 DISABILITIES MINUTES PM Joy Warren from the Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine presented on the department's adaptive programming. Meredith Reynolds was also present to answer a few questions related to playground accessibility features. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES 18-001CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the December 14, 2017 meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Committee on Disabilities. A motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez, seconded by Commissioner Calsita, to approve recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 5 - Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Deaka McClain and David Gauthier Absent: 1 - Jamone Pili STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS Youth, Employment & Programs - Commissioner Calsita reported that the archived surveys the commission uses has been updated for use again, but waiting to see if the committee would like to make any changes. Commissioner Calsita also reported that the committee is still discussing a resource guide. Accessibilty, Transportation & Services - Commissioner McClain reported the committee is still discussing an accessibilty townhall. The committee is also discussing support of the post office projects that Ms. Harris has brought to the commission's attention. OCEAN BOULEVARD, 1:00 DISABILITIES MINUTES PM AD-HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS Community Events ADA Checklist Ad-Hoc - Commissioner Calsita reported that the committee has reviewed the City's new ADA checklist and has compiled suggestions regarding seating, stages, communication access, and pedestrian access for review by the commission. There was also discussion about the process of applying the checklist in a meaningful way. Calendar Ad-Hoc - Commissioner McClain reminded the commission of the upcoming Festival of Human Abilities. OLD BUSINESS 18-002CA Recommendation to continue discussion regarding a possible letter of recommendation to Mayor Garcia regarding accessible features at our City's parks. A motion was made by Vice Chair McClain, seconded by Commissioner Karadjov, to laid over. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 5 - Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris Karadjov, Deaka McClain and David Gauthier Absent: 1 - Jamone Pili NEW BUSINESS 18-003CA Recommendation to reschedule the March 8, 2018 meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities to March 1, 2018. A motion was made by Commissioner Karadjov, seconded by Commissioner Calsita, to approve recommendation. Commissioner Karadjov was voted in as new secretary through July 2018. A motion was made by Commissioner Karadjov, seconded by Commissioner Calsita, to approve recommendation.
