APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
1. 18-013CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the April 12, 2018 meeting
of the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities.
A motion was made by Vice Chair McClain, seconded by
Commissioner Karadjov, to adopt. The motion carried by the

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Youth, Employment & Programs - Commissioner Calsita confirmed that the desired date for
Mentoring Day 2018 is Thursday, October 11th, to purposely coincide with CACoD's October
meeting.
Accessibilty, Transportation & Services - Commissioner Karadjov reported that the committee
is still discussing an accessibility townhall, and suggested that it be paired with the DEAM
event in October. Commissioner McClain reported that parks accessibility recommendations
are still being discussed.
AD-HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS
Calendar Ad-Hoc - Commissioner McClain reported that she represented CACoD at the CIP
event.
NEW BUSINESS
2. 18-014CA Recommendation to appoint Commissioners Bruns and Cedeno to
standing committees and make any other reappointments within the
standing committees Chair Gauthier deems appropriate.
A motion was made by Vice Chair McClain, seconded by
Commissioner Calsita, to adopt. The motion carried by the
following vote:

3. 18-015CA Recommendation to change CACoD meeting time from 1:00 PM to
1:30 PM for June 2018, September 2018 and December 2018.
This CA-Agenda Item was withdrawn.
4. 18-016CA Recommendation to form ad-hoc committees for Disability Awareness
Month events. These events include DEAM and Mentoring Day.
A motion was made by Commissioner Karadjov, seconded by
Vice Chair McClain, to adopt. The motion carried by the
following vote:

5. 18-017CA Recommendation to discuss and approve recomendations from the
Accessibility, Transportation and Services standing committee related
to the Accessibility Townhall.
A motion was made by Commissioner Karadjov, seconded by
Commissioner Hernandez, to adopt. The motion carried by the
following vote:
Yes: 6 - Alice Bruns, Ciara Calsita, Richard Hernandez, Chris
Karadjov, Deaka McClain and David Gauthier
Absent: 2 - Nubia Flores Cedeno and Jamone Pili
The final recommendation was to pair the accessibility townhall with the DEAM 2018 event.
STAFF REPORT
Heather Blackmun reported that public works is open to reviewing its current blue zone policy
in residential areas and possibly making modifications based on CACoD's recommendations.
Ms. Blackmun also reported that the City has a new service animal policy, that the ADA
anniversary proclamation will be given by Mayor Garcia at the July 10 council meeting and
that Councilwoman Gonzalez would be hosting a housing summit and had invited
Commissioner Pili to participate on CACoD's behalf.

Commissioner Hernandez reminded the commission that the DRC would be hosting their
annual dinner on June 21.
Commissioner Bruns announced that she would be absent from the commission's July
meeting.
