Chair McClain called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
18-029CA Recommendation to approve minutes from the July 12, 2018 meeting of
the Citizen's Advisory Commission on Disabilities.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Gauthier, seconded by
Commissioner Diamond, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:

18-030CA Recommendation to receive and file monthly report by the Youth, Employment
& Programs standing committee and/or adopt any recommendations this body
would like to make.
Commissioner Gauthier reported that the resources guide is being finalized.
A motion was made by Commissioner Diamond, seconded by
Commissioner Bruns, to approve recommendation. The motion
carried by the following vote:
Yes: 5 - Alice Bruns, Sherry Diamond, Nubia Flores Cedeno, David
Gauthier and Deaka McClain
Absent: 3 - Ciara Calsita, Chris Karadjov and Jamone Pili
18-031CA Recommendation to receive and file monthly report by the Accessibility,
Transportation & Services standing committee and/or adopt any
recommendations this body would like to make.
Commissioner Cedeno reported that the letter of recommendation for parks
accessibility was sent to Mayor Garcia, Parks & Recreation and Public Works.
A motion was made by Vice Chair Gauthier, seconded by
Secretary Cedeno, to approve recommendation. The motion
carried by the following vote:

18-032CA Recommendation to receive and file and/or approve any additional
recommendations from the DEAM 2018 ad-hoc committee.
Commissioner Bruns and McClain reported the following:
- would like for Councilmember Richardson to cohost the event and be the main
speaker
- the run of show will go from 12:00-2:30
- requested any new vendors to add to list?
- need to still discuss theme and colors
- decide any food to be provided
- invites to go out by the end of the month, ideally by email
A motion was made by Commissioner Diamond, seconded by
Vice Chair Gauthier, to approve recommendation. The motion
carried by the following vote:

Commissioner Gauthier reported that all recommendations have been previously
made.

18-034CA Recommendation to receive and file and/or approve any
recommendations from the 'Stamped Concrete/Decorative Surfaces' ad
hoc committee.
Commissioner Bruns requested information related to the Ochoa lawsuit;
Heather Blackmun provided, stating that this specific concern was not within the
paremeters of the lawsuit.
Commissioner McClain requested that public works attend a CACoD meeting to
elaborate on the City's use of stamped/decorative concrete and pavers.
Commissioner Diamond clarified that pavers and stamped concrete are used to
beautify our City which in turn could have unintended consequences for people
with certain disabilities.
Commissioner Cedeno reported that these sidewalk treatments generally have a
decreased cost in maintenance.
The committee will look at other cities to see what protocols they may be
following and what standards these cities may have in place.

- the new civic center presentation would occur late this year, early next year
- the updated blue zone policy is being finalized
