A motion was made by Commissioner Hinds, seconded by
Commissioner Hunter, to approve recommendation. The
motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: 6 - Mark Grisafe, Mary Hinds, Tasha Hunter, Lourdes Ramos,
Kathleen Irvine and Julianna Roosevelt
Absent: 1 - Kevin McGuan

SWEARING OF WITNESSES
1. 21-027CH Recommendation to deny the appeal (APL21-05) and uphold denial of
a Certificate of Appropriateness COAS2105-17 to legalize the
installation of fifty-five (55) vinyl windows in the same window openings
leaving the wood jambs and sills on an existing two-story multi-family
residential building located at 429 West 8th Street in the Drake
Park/Willmore City Historic District. (District 1)

presented the staff report.

A motion was made by Commissioner Grisafe, seconded by
Commissioner Ramos, to approve the staff recommendation
to deny the appeal and also direct staff to continue working
with the applicant to come up with options to make the denial
functional in order to ensure a positive solution so the tenants
will still have needed windows. The motion carried by the
following vote:
Yes: 6 - Mark Grisafe, Mary Hinds, Tasha Hunter, Lourdes Ramos,
Kathleen Irvine and Julianna Roosevelt
Absent: 1 - Kevin McGuan
2. 21-028CH Recommendation to make and/or accept nominations and appoint a
2021 nominee to the Long Beach Navy Memorial Heritage Association.

Chair Roosevelt, to approve recommendation with a
provision to work with the applicant to come up with
functional options for windows on the building. The motion
carried by the following vote:
Yes: 6 - Mark Grisafe, Mary Hinds, Tasha Hunter, Lourdes Ramos,
Kathleen Irvine and Julianna Roosevelt
Absent: 1 - Kevin McGuan
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: Members of the public are invited to address the Cultural
Heritage Commission on items of interest to the public within the Commission’s
jurisdiction. Each speaker will be limited to three minutes unless that time is extended by
the Chair.
