TOWN OF LOOMIS MEETING AGENDA ACTION MINUTES LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES LOOMIS LIBRARY 6050 LIBRARY DRIVE, LOOMIS, CA 95650 WEDNESDAY February 12, 2020 6:00 P.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 6:04 pm 2. SILENT ROLL CALL Board Members Advisory Board Elizabeth Stewart-Black Ann Baker Cathy Crosthwaite Roger Carroll Juanita Garcia Carol Pepper-Kittredge Joanne Ligamari Gail Waller Board Members in attendance: Joanne Ligamari, Gail Waller, Cathy Crothwaite, Juanita Garcia, Elizabeth Stewart-Black Board Members absent: None Advisory Board Members in attendance: Roger Carroll, Ann Baker 3. PUBLIC COMMENT: Citizens may address the Library Board on items not on this agenda. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject jurisdiction of the Library Board and limit their comments to five (5) minutes per person. The Brown Act, with certain exceptions, does not permit the Library Board to discuss or take action on items that are not listed on the agenda. Please state your name for the record. None 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: November 13, 2019 (PUBLIC COMMENT) Gail Waller made a motion to accept the minutes, second by Cathy Crosthwaite Ayes: Ligamari, Waller, Crosthwaite, Stewart-Black, Garcia Noes: None Abstentions: None Absent: None 5. FINANCIAL STATEMENT (PUBLIC COMMENT) Cathy Crosthwaite made a motion to accept the minutes, second by Elizabeth Stewart-Black Ayes: Ligamari, Waller, Crosthwaite, Stewart-Black, Garcia Noes: None Abstentions: None Absent: None 6. FRIENDS OF LOOMIS LIBRARY UPDATE (PUBLIC COMMENT) Jean Wilson updated the Board regarding the activities of the Friends of the Loomis Library. There is a good level of financial support from the renewing members. January’s Book Sale was the best ever, exceeding $1,000 in sales. Jenny Knisley added that a $1,000 grant was received from Dee Ash to help replace older books. 7. LOOMIS LIBRARY AND COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER OPERATIONS REPORT (PUBLIC COMMENT) Sarah Comstock handed out the January 2020 Operations Report. She stated that January was “incredible.” Circulation, door counts and questions were the highest ever. Jean Wilson asked about the Puzzle-palooza. Joanne Ligamari asked about the Cookbook Club. 8. 2019-2022 STRATEGIC PLAN REVIEW (PUBLIC COMMENT) Sarah Comstock reviewed the items to be accomplished during the current quarter. We are “on schedule.” Jean Wilson asked about items to be accomplished during the upcoming quarter. 9. ACTION ITEMS 10. INFORMATIONAL & DISCUSSION ITEMS a. Discuss board roles (PUBLIC COMMENT) No discussion or public comment. b. Review building acquisition (PUBLIC COMMENT) Jan Clark-Crets discussed the Town’s efforts and that it on the agenda for closed session at the next Placer County Supervisors Board meeting. c. Discuss draft of letter to the county (PUBLIC COMMENT) Jan Clark-Crets suggested that the Library Board hold off until after the Supervisors meet. d. Discuss advocacy opportunities (PUBLIC COMMENT) 1 The Board discussed opportunities. Jenny Knisley commented on Chamber Mixer attendance. e. Discuss building security (PUBLIC COMMENT) The Board requested that Roger Carroll take the following needs to the Town for addressing: security cameras, flood lights, parking lot lights not working and a possible “panic button.” 11. LIBRARY BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS / FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Future Agenda items: update on resolution of security issues; Board roles. 12. ADJOURNMENT Adjourned at 7:10 pm. 2
