The Council District representative was not in favor of another continuance. Some discussion ensued on the appeal issues. Representatives from Building and Safety and Los Angeles Police Department also testified in support of the Zoning Administrator=s recommendation. SOUTH VALLEY AREA 3 PLANNING COMMISSION January 12, 2006 The Commission wanted other City Departments= input. A motion for continuance was therefore made. Motion: Continue the matter to June 22, 2006 with a condition for regular checkup by Building and Safety for any violations. PROJECT: New construction of a 5,870 square-foot (including an attached two- car garage), three-story, single-family residence, on a 16,886 square-foot lot. Three speakers spoke for the project and five against the project. Council Distrrict representative testified in support of the Design Review Board and the Director of Planning Determination. The Chair closed the public hearing. Motion: Deny the appeal; sustain the determination of the Director of Planning; and adopt the findings. One other speaker encouraged the applicant to continue working with Planning, Council District Office, and the surrounding neighbors regarding the project. The Chair closed the public hearing. The Council Office representative spoke and asked that the project be reduced to four units and proposed modifying the Conditions of Approval. The Chair closed the public hearing. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD The Area Planning Commission shall provide an opportunity in open meetings for the public to address it, on items of interest to the public that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Area Planning Commission. (This requirement is in addition to any other hearing required or imposed by law.) Persons making requests are encouraged to do so in writing and should submit 10 copies to the Area Planning Commission for its consideration. Persons wishing to speak must submit a speaker’s request form prior to the commencement of the public comment period. Individual testimony within the public comment period shall be limited to five (5) minutes per person and up to ten (10) minutes per subject.
