The meeting was called to order by Commission President Steve Cochran at 4:35 p.m. with Commissioners Dierking, Kim, and Mather present. Commissioner Beatty was not in attendance. ______________________________ ITEM NO. 1 DEPARTMENTAL REPORT Kevin Jones, Senior City Planner, updated the Commission on the following: • Home Sharing Ordinance and Unapproved Dwelling Ordinance • Small Lot Subdivision Code Amendment ______________________________ ITEM NO. 2 COMMISSION BUSINESS ELECTION OF OFFICERS The election of Officers were postponed until all Commissioners are present. COMMISSION BUSINESS A. Advance Calendar It was announced that the August 25, 2016 Commission meeting will be canceled. B. Commission Requests There were no requests made by the Commission. C. Request for Reconsideration On appeal Case No. DIR-2015-2697-SPP-1A decided on July 14, 2016. – MOTION REQUIRED –. There was no motion made by the Commission to reconsider this case. ______________________________ ITEM NO. 3 NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL There were no presentations given by any Neighborhood Council representative on any item listed on the agenda. Meeting Minutes August 11 , 2016 South Valley Area Planning Commission ITEM NO. 4 D1R-2015-3779-BSA-1A Council District: 4 - Ryu CEQA: N/A Plan Area: Sherman Oaks-Studio City- Toluca Lake-Cahuenga Pass PROJECT SITE: 4530 North Varna Avenue MOTION Commissioner Dierking put for forth the motion below: 1. Deny the appeal. 2. Sustain the action of the Zoning Administrator, pursuant to the Los Angeles Municipal Code Section 12.26-K, that the Department of Building and Safety did not err or abuse its discretion in issuing Building Permit No. 15019-20000-00371 to demolish an existing single-family dwelling and detached garage which is listed in SurveyLA as a contributing structure in a potential historic district, and to set aside and deem void Building Permit No. 14010-20000- 03880 for the construction of a new two-story single-family dwelling; No. 15030-20000-00829 issued for grading; and, No. 15047-20000-00411 to construct a new swimming pool and spa. 3. Adopt the Findings of the Zoning Administrator. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD The Area Planning Commission shall provide an opportunity in open meetings for the public to address it, on items of interest to the public that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Area Planning. Persons making requests are encouraged to do so in writing and should submit 10 copies to the Area Planning Commission for its consideration. Persons wishing to speak must submit a speaker’s request form prior to the commencement of the public comment period. Individual testimony within the public comment period shall be limited to up to five (5) minutes per person and up to ten (10) minutes per subject.
