AGENDA CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMISSION THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2008, 10:00 A.M. Pursuant to the Commission’s general operating procedures, the Commission at times must necessarily limit the speaking times of those presenting testimony on either side of an issue that is designated as a public hearing item. WILSHIRE PARK HISTORIC PRESERVATION OVERLAY ZONE (HPOZ), AN AREA GENERALLY BOUNDED BY WILSHIRE BOULEVARD TO THE NORTH, OLYMPIC BOULEVARD TO THE SOUTH, WILTON TO THE EAST, AND BOTH SIDES OF BRONSON AVENUE ON THE WEST EXCLUDING ALL COMMERCIAL ZONES EXCEPT 658 AND 667 S. BRONSON AVENUE, CD 10, CPC-2008-3353-HPOZ, ENV-2008-3354-CE Motion Required. Commission will consider a request to: FIND that the project is categorically exempt under the State CEQA Guidelines, Article 19, Section 15308, Class 8 and Article 19, Section 15331, Class 31 for the Wilshire Park Historic Resources Survey and Historic Preservation Overlay Zone; CERTIFY the Historic Resources Survey as to its accuracy and completeness; CERTIFY the establishment of the HPOZ boundaries generally bounded by Wilshire Boulevard to te north, Olympic Boulevard to the south, Wilton to the east, and both sides of Bronson Avenue on the west, excluding all commercial zones except 658 and 667 S. Bronson Avenue; ADOPT THE ATTACHED FINDINGS THAT THE PROPOSED HISTORIC PRESERVATION OVERLAY ZONE MEETS ONE OR MORE OF THE REQUIRED CRITERIA per Los Angeles Municipal Code Section 12.20.3 because the proposed district has a high concentration of contributing structures of a primary period of significance exemplified by a varied collection of Arts and Crafts and Period Revival Architecture in a cohesive neighborhood setting that retains much of its original, historic character; and RECOMMEND that the City Planning Commission approve the establishment of the boundaries for the proposed Wilshire Park HPOZ.
