Adjournment Posted: May 14, 2015  Los Banos Unified School District/City of Los Banos 2x3 Meeting Minutes Monday, April 20, 2015 4:00 p.m. LBUSD The meeting was called to order at 4:09 p.m. Call to Order Present: LBUSD: Superintendent Steve Tietjen, Board Member Dennis Areias, Roll Call Board Member Marlene Smith, Board Member, John Mueller, City Manager Steve Carrigan, Mayor Mike Villalta (arrived at 4:13 p.m.) Absent: Council Member Tom Faria, On Motion by Member Smith, seconded by Member Mueller, the Committee Approval of approved the agenda as submitted. Ayes: Areias, Carrigan, Smith, Tietjen; Agenda Noes 0, Absent: Faria, Villalta. Motion carried. No one came forward and the public forum was closed at 4:10 p.m. Public Forum On Motion by Member Mueller, seconded by Member Smith, the Committee Approval of approved the minutes from the February 23, 2015 and March 16, 2015 Minutes meetings. Ayes: Areias, Carrigan, Smith, Tietjen; Noes 0, Absent: Faria, Villalta. Motion carried. Mr. Carrigan provided an update on details of the City’s water conservation Discussion/Update: program. He said the State is requiring cities to reduce their water Water Conservation consumption by 35% which translates to further water restrictions to residents, and will include a decrease in landscape watering from three to two days per week. City staff will be going door-to-door handing out flyers and explaining the new restrictions. The campaign will target landscape usage, but residents will be encouraged to reduce consumption in other areas as well. He said staff will be monitoring usage around the city and residents will be fined for noncompliance of the restrictions. Mr. Areias inquired if meters could be used to determine when residents are overusing water; Mr. Carrigan said residents currently pay for any additional water they consume, and that, for now, staff will focus on enforcing the current water restrictions. School sites will decrease landscape watering to two days a week; playing fields, which are on well systems, will be watered only as needed to maintain the field. Dr. Tietjen said construction of the new junior high school is off to a good Discussion/Update: start; underground work is moving forward with crews digging footings for the New Junior High two-story buildings. PG&E is expected to begin work on the site soon with School only a one-day street closure anticipated; temporary power poles are expected to go up this week. Dr. Tietjen said an unforeseen cost occurred when crews uncovered an old irrigation pipe which had to be removed.
