VILLAGE OF LOS LUNAS
THURSDAY, JUNE 22, 2023
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Los Lunas, County of Valencia, and State of New Mexico met Thursday, June 22, 2023,
in regular session at 6:00 PM. Roll call was taken and the following were present: Mayor Charles Griego, Councilman Christopher Ortiz,
Councilmen Gino Romero and James Runyon, Councilman Cruz Munoz were present. Meeting was conducted in person and recorded
through TEAMS.

Also present were Gregory D. Martin, Luis Brown, and Craig Donahoe. In accordance with Ordinance 114A, the following agenda was
prepared and circulated as required:
1. APPOINTMENT OF FOCUS GROUP PARTICIPANTS FOR ZONING ORDINANCE UPDATE.
2. EXECUTIVE SESSION.
a) Hire 2-FT Police Officers – Police Officers.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
a) Minutes from June 8, 2023, Council Meeting.
4. ADJOURMENT.
• CALL MEETING TO ORDER.
At 6:00 PM, Mayor Griego brought the meeting to order and welcomed the audience.
• PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.
Mayor Griego asked Councilman Gino Romero to lead the Council and TEAMS participants in the Pledge of Allegiance.
• APPROVAL OF AGENDA.
Mayor Griego asked for a motion from Council. Motion to approve.
APPROVAL: Motion to approve agenda as presented.
MOVED: Councilman Runyon
SECONDED: Councilman Ortiz
CARRIED: Motion passed on a vote of 3 (Councilman Romero- yes; Councilman Ortiz – yes; Councilman Runyon - yes) FOR
AND 0 AGAINST.
Mayor Griego announced that Councilman Munoz would be arriving shortly.
• PUBLIC INPUT FORUM.
None.
1. APPOINTMENT OF FOCUS GROUP PARTICIPANTS FOR ZONING ORDINANCE UPDATE.
Ms. Erin Callahan presented item one. We recently hired a consultant to work on our zoning ordinance update. As part of the public input,
we are putting together a citizens advisory committee. We have four members from the public who are interested in participating. The four
committee members are: Ambrose Chavez, Giovanna Archuleta, Josh Johnson, and Dean Vigil. Once we have a focused group – we will be
advertising those meetings in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. Mayor Griego asked Council if they had any questions – there were
none. Mayor Griego asked for a motion from Council
APPROVAL: motion to approve Ambrose Chavez, Giovanna Archuleta, Josh Johnson, and Dean Vigil

SECONDED: Councilman Romero
CARRIED: Motion passed on a vote of 3 (Councilman Romero- yes; Councilman Ortiz – yes; Councilman Runyon - yes) FOR
AND 0 AGAINST.
2. EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mayor Griego announced that the Council would be going into executive session pursuant to NMSA 1978 Section 10-15-1(H), the following
matter may be discussed in closed session: hiring of 2-FT Police Officers.
APPROVAL: Motion to adjourn into executive session

SECONDED: Councilman Ortiz
CARRIED: Motion passed on a vote of 4 (Councilman Romero- yes; Councilman Ortiz – yes; Councilman Munoz – yes;
Councilman Runyon - yes) FOR AND 0 AGAINST. 6:10PM
At 6:38PM, Mayor Griego asked for a motion reconvene from Council indicating that they discussed the hiring of 2-FT Police Officers.

CARRIED: Motion passed on a vote of 4 (Councilman Romero- yes; Councilman Ortiz – yes; Councilman Munoz – yes;

Regarding FT Police Officer – Mayor Griego put up the name of Justin DeLong.
APPROVAL: Motion to approve

Regarding FT Police Officer – Mayor Griego put up the name of Cody Vocu.

Mayor Griego asked if there were corrections to the council minutes of the June 8, 2023, Council Meeting – there were none.

ASSASSINATION. Questions raised on non-agenda items may be answered at a later date in order to facilitate proper research. Written comments are welcome and
should be given to the Village Administrator prior to the start of the meeting. Written materials will not be accepted during regular agenda items in the interest of
time.

BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE:
The Village of Los Lunas is in the process of updating the Zoning Code, and as a part of that effort a focus group
has been selected to ensure robust public participation. The Community Development Department recommends
the following residents for the Zoning Ordinance Focus Group:

Ambrose Chavez
Josh Johnson
Dean Vigil
