Lowell Cultural Council Tuesday, April 25, 2017, 6:30pm In attendance: James Ostis, Jason Hantzis, Maxine Farkas, Laura Frye, and Roberto Dei (administrator) I. Reimbursements a. James Ostis and Jason Hantzis approved and signed completed reimbursements. II. LCC Recruitment a. Lowell Cultural Council members must be a resident of Lowell; commit to attending monthly meetings, grantee interview meetings in November, Community Input Meeting in May, Application Workshop meetings in September, Reception event in the spring; and foster an appreciation for the artistic and cultural community of Lowell. City employees are ineligible to join the Lowell Cultural Council. b. Committee reviewed the following process for appointing new members: i. Prospective volunteer must send cover letter and resume to Roberto Dei at rdei@lowellma.gov ii. Roberto shares information with council members iii. Prospective volunteer invited to attend a Lowell Cultural Council public meeting iv. Council forwards prospective volunteer’s information with Lowell’s City Manager v. City Manager reviews and appoints new member c. Council reviewed two potential volunteer applications and agreed that one applicant's information will be shared with City Manager and the other will be invited to attend the next public meeting on Tuesday, May 23. d. Maxine will draft new LCC Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities to share with council. Once approved, this will be used to recruit new members. e. Share recruitment posting with the following groups/people: i. LCC’s page on LowellMA.gov ii. Lowellculturalcouncil.org iii. Lowell Cultural Council’s Facebook page iv. Announcement at upcoming ACTION meeting (Maxine) v. Lowell Neighborhood Association meetings vi. HigherCulture.org vii. PSA on Lowell Telecommunications Corporation (Maxine) viii. Public Matters (James) ix. Current members’ friends and acquaintances III. Community Input Meeting a. Tuesday, May 16 at City Council Chambers in City Hall at 6:30 pm b. Light Refreshments will be served c. Printed program from Grantee Reception will be available 4/25/2017 LCC Meeting Minutes  d. Laura will draft an event blurb for distribution i. Roberto will email event blurb to all 2017 grant applicants, add event to City of Lowell’s online Event Calendar. ii. Maxine will share event on social media IV. Action Items: a. Maxine: draft LCC Roles and Responsibilities document b. Laura: draft Community Input event blurb c. All Council Members: Share both documents with friends and acquaintances V. Next meeting: a.
