Lowell Cultural Council Meeting Notes July 24, 2018 In attendance Maxine Farkas Joe Pyne Marianna Wood Olu Ibrahim Fru Nkimbeng Justin Sultzbach Jerry Bisantz Election of Officers – review of Job Descriptions Elected Chair – Maxine Farkas Treasurer – Joe Pyne Secretary – Marianna Wood Meeting dates Regular meetings – the 4th Tuesday of the month, meetings are scheduled to begin at 6:30 and will adjourn when all agenda business has been completed or at 10pm, whichever comes first. August 28, 2018 September 25, 2018 October 23, 2018 November 27, 2018 – grant cycle deliberation meeting January 22, 2019 February 26, 2019 March 26, 2019 April 23, 2019 May 28, 2019 June 25, 2019 July 23, 2019 August 27, 2019 Grant Cycle meetings Interviews November 13th and 14th Interviews will be scheduled from 6:30 until 9pm Deliberations November 27th Deliberations will be scheduled from 6:30 until 10pm. Council members who do not participate in the interview meetings may sit in on, but will not participate in deliberations. Funding Allocation November 28th This is a voting meeting. Results of deliberations will be presented and voted on by entire Council. Fru has offered to contact LTC so that we might use their community space for September Workshops which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday September 11th and 12th from 6:30 to 8:30. Priorities for 2019 Grant Cycle were accepted by the Council The priorities are: 1. Projects that showcase the youth experience in Lowell 2. Projects that explore cultural and ethnic diversity 3. Active multi-disciplinary collaborations Grant Cycle process was discussed. Deadline for submission of online applications is October 15th. Funding cap to be determined once MCC allocations are announced. Extended discussion of Folk Festival Destination Lowell participation. Two City Manager appointments were made in the City Council meeting after the Cultural Council meeting was adjourned Timna Nwokeji appointed to a 3 year term beginning 7/24/18 Maxine Farkas reappointed to a second 3 year term beginning 7/24/18
