Hunger and Homeless Commission AGENDA - March 6, 2024 Time Speaker/Topic 12:00pm Dan O’Connor, Acting Chairperson, Welcome/Introduction of Speakers Jennifer Lemmerman, Chief Policy Officer at Project Bread will be providing an update on project Bread's programming and upcoming initiatives. Enrique Vargas, Associate Director at Mill City Grows will be providing a status update on the City's Community Food Partnership and programming news for the upcoming spring season. Debbie Callery, Executive Director at the Merrimack Valley Food Bank will be discussing utilization trends at the Food Bank and the Food Bank's new location. Linda Nara, Community Coordinator at WIC/CTI will be discussing area WIC utilization trends. We may also have a speaker to address Federal WIC budget concerns and the possible impact of a government shutdown on WIC benefits. Mary Loughlin, SNAP Outreach Coordinator at the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) will be providing DTA/SNAP updates and news. Pat Baker from the Mass Law Reform Institute will be available to discuss SNAP/Nutrition budget and policy issues/concerns. Julia Garvey, Community Organizer and Legislative Advocate for the Mass Coalition for the Homeless will provide information on their upcoming Legislative Action Day. Open Discussion - Notices and updates from service provider agencies are welcomed during 1:15pm the open discussion portion of the agenda.
