Lowell License Commission minutes for meeting, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 6:30 p.m., Council Chamber, 2nd floor, City Hall, 375 Merrimack St., Lowell, MA 01852 Present: Brian Akashian, Commissioner (Chairman), Christy Delaney, Commissioner, Cliff Krieger, Commissioner, Captain Jack Webb of Lowell police department. Commissioner Krieger motion to approve minutes for meeting April 11, 2013, second Commissioner Akashian, so voted. The Commission reviewed the public amusement license applications from Thomas McKay - Mill City Management, Inc., Lowell Memorial Auditorium, 50 E. Merrimack St. Katrina Garavanian, representative, was present. Show, Jillian Michaels, Wednesday, May 1, 2013, 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Mill City Management Presents, promoter Show, Super Why, Thursday, May 9, 2013, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Mass Concerts, promoter Show, The Price is Right, Thursday, June 6, 2013, 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Elite Entertainment, promoter Show, MCC Celebrity Forum, Friday, June 14, 2013, 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Middlesex Community College, promoter. Commissioner Krieger made the motion to approve public amusement licenses, second by Commissioner Akashian, so voted. The Commission reviewed special one-day license applications for malt beverages & wines only, or either one. Christine Trainor of Aramark Catering was present. The Commission reviewed her application for Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event is the Patricia Yates Retirement Celebration to be held at the Perry Atrium of UML Emerging Technology and Innovation Center, 40 University Ave. Rev. Charles J. Hughes of St. Anthony Church was present. The Commission reviewed his applications for Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 12 noon to 12 midnight, and Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event is Our Lady of Fatima Feast to be held at the St. Anthony parking lot, 893 Central Street. Commissioner Krieger made the motion to approve special one-day licenses for Christine Trainor and Rev. Charles J. Hughes, second by Commissioner Akashian, so voted. The Commission reviewed applications for special event permit for amplification of sound. Karen Bell was present for Jackson, Appleton, Middlesex Business & Residents Association. Her request is for a sound system for Greater Lowell Community Charter School, UTEC, Artists, Appleton Mills, Song, Dance, Music, Announcements, JAMBRAree Neighborhood Festival, 6th Annual, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Jackson St., Appleton Mills. Rev. Charles J. Hughes of St. Anthony’s Church was present. He is requesting permits for a sound system for DJ, Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 12 noon to 12 midnight, and Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event is Our Lady of Fatima Feast to be held at the St. Anthony parking lot, 893 Central Street. Commissioner Akashian stated to the applicants that the nature of the permit is for a person to use common sense when sound amplification is utilized. Commissioner Akashian made the motion to approve sound amplification permits, second by Commissioner Krieger, so voted. The Commission reviewed the application by Angel Perez, dba Angel Appliances, for license for Second Hand Articles for major household appliances, at 250 Middlesex St. The matter had been continued from April 11, 2013. Angel Perez was present with Mrs. Perez. Mr. Perez stated that he met with Police Officer Brito to discuss the police department’s guidelines for reporting second hand articles received/purchased from customers. Captain Webb confirmed that the meeting had occurred. Commissioner Krieger made the motion to approve Second hand Articles license, second by Commissioner Akashian, so voted. The Commission voted for a recess at 6:40 p.m. The Commission voted to reconvene the meeting at 6:48 p.m. The Commission reviewed the application by Healthy Food Corporation, dba Frozurt, Tram Dang, representative, premises at 1235 Bridge St., for license for two (2) automatic amusement devices, Skeeballs M-3108, and Crane M-3147. Tram Dang was present. Ms. Dang stated that the business has been in operation for one year. Commissioner Krieger made the motion to approve license for automatic amusement devices, second by Commissioner Akashian, so voted. On a motion by Commissioner Akashian, second by Commissioner Krieger, it was voted to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 p.m., respectfully submitted: Ryan Wynn, Executive Secretary [present at meeting].
