Khelfaoui respectfully request permission to attend the American Association of School Administrators’ Nationa l Conference 2016 to be held in Phoenix, AZ from Thursday, February 11th through Saturday, February 13, 2016. The cost of the conference and lodging, not to exceed $1,101.00, will be funded by the Professional Development budget. The cost of the conference and hotel will not exceed $1500 and will be paid by the District’s Professional Development funds. The cost of travel and $50/day expense will not exceed $150.00. Khelfaoui, Superintendent of Schools DATE: January 15, 2016 RE: Modular Classrooms for the Wang School At a previous meeting, the School Committee received a copy of a memorandum from Mr. John Descoteaux to Mr. Frank Antonelli regarding a 2016-2017 Plan to Address the Increases in Middle School Population . After reviewing the information and meeting with the Principals of the Daley, Robinson, and Wang Schools, as well as with key central office administrators and other Principals, the administration feels there is a need for two modular classrooms at the Wang School for next school year. Due to time constraints, there is an urgent need to start the bid process. Mr. Michael Vaughn, the Chief Procurement Office for the City, has been notified that the School Department will be preparing bid specifications for modular classrooms for the Wang School. As part of these efforts, LPS continually monitors the progress our students make. As a district, we are proposing the Office of Accountability to maximize the use of our data to make decisions about teaching and learning, resources and funding, and about what types of supports to provide to students and teachers. This office will manage strategy, logistics and data. The strategic plan and data dashboard will be an integral part of the work of this group. A goal of this Office of Accountability is transparency with our families, partners and the community through the strategic plan and its dashboard. This office will increase transparency with the community about how the district uses data to make decisions and to best meet the needs of our schools. We hope that parents can also use this information to engage with their child’s teacher and make informed decisions affecting their child’s academic success. This office will evaluate key projects, educational initiatives and programs on behalf of the Superintendent. Coalition building and further development of relationships with our stakeholders is also a key component of this work. This office will also oversee strategic management of federal and state grants ensuring compliance and alignment with district strategy. This office, comprised of current personnel, will be designed and lead with the assistance of a consultant.
