LOWELL SCHOOL COMMITTEE INAUGURATION MEETING MINUTES Date: January 2, 2018 Time: 10:00AM Location: City Council Chamber, 375 Merrimack Street, 2nd Floor, Lowell, MA 01852 1. SALUTE TO FLAG 2. ROLL CALL On a roll call at 11:03 a.m., all members were present, namely: Mr. Descoteaux, Ms. Doherty, Mr. Hoey, Mr. Lay, Ms. Martin, Mr. Nutter and Mayor Samaras. 3. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS 3.I. Invocation The Invocation was given by Reverend Stephen M. Papik, Deacon, Immaculate Conception Church 3.II. Pledge Of Allegiance/National Anthem: Colors presented by the Lowell High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadet Color Guard [under the direction of Colonel Pechthida Kim] National Anthem by the Sound Impressions Show Choir under the direction of Mr. Samuel Descoteaux 3.III. Oath of Office Administered By First Justice of Lowell District Court Honorable Stacey Fortes Each School Committee member stood in front of their desk and was administered the oath of office. 4. NEW BUSINESS 4.I. Election Of The Secretary For the record, this vote has to be by name. Superintendent Dr. Khelfaoui was elected Secretary to the Lowell School Committee. Election of Vice Chairperson For the record, this vote has to be by name. Ms. Doherty was elected Vice Chairman of the Lowell School Committee. The motion was made by Mr. Descoteaux; seconded by Ms. Martin. 7 yeas APPROVED 4.III. Adoption of Rules The motion to adopt present rules of the School Committee for 2018-2019 was made by Mr. Hoey; seconded by Mr. Descoteaux. 7 yeas APPROVED 4.IV. Vote of Authorization The motion was made by Ms. Doherty; seconded by Ms. Martin. 7 yeas APPROVED 4.V. Establishment of Subcommittees The motion was made by Mr. Hoey; seconded by Mr. Lay. 7 yeas APPROVED 4.VI.
