LOWELL SCHOOL COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
Date: August 3, 2022
Time: 6:30PM
Location: City Council Chamber, 375 Merrimack Street, 2nd Floor, Lowell, MA 01852
Members of the public may view the meeting via LTC and those wishing to speak regarding a specific
agenda item shall register to speak in advance of the meeting by sending an email to the Superintendent
indicating the agenda item, a phone number and email address so we can provide a zoom link to access

978-674-4324. All requests must be submitted before 2:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

2. ROLL CALL
On a roll call at 6:44 p.m., members present were, namely: Ms. Doherty, Mr. Lay, Ms. Martin, Ms.
Thompson, Mayor Chau and Ms. Chhoun. Ms. Delrossi was absent.
3. NEW BUSINESS
3.1. Approval of Superintendent's Evaluation
Mayor Chau opened up the meeting and thanked Ms. Martin, Chairperson of the Personnel
Subcommittee and Aggregator of the Evaluation for all her work.
Ms. Martin thanked the Committee for competing the evaluation and provided the Committee with the
supporting documents and their written comments. Ms. Martin stated that the recommended rating
would be proficient.
Ms. Doherty stated that the numerical average provided was under three (3) and asked why that would
be considered proficient.
Ms. Martin stated that that this is meant to be a guide post for each member and it’s a way for each
member to make comparisons against the standard/rubric. She stated that each member will now vote
on the overall evaluation.
Mr. Lay made a motion to limit the comments from Committee members to five (5) minutes;
seconded by Ms. Thompson. 6 yeas, 1 absent (Ms. Delrossi) APPROVED

Each Committee member addressed the Superintendent and explained their rating and provided
feedback to the Superintendent explaining how they came to each ranking in each category.
Superintendent Boyd stated that the feedback was heard and accepted.
Ms. Martin made a motion to approve a proficient rating for the Superintendent’s evaluation;
seconded by Mr. Lay. 5 yeas, 1 nay (Ms. Doherty), 1 absent (Ms. Delrossi) APPROVED
4. ADJOURNMENT
Ms. Thompson made a motion to adjourn at 7:15 p.m.; seconded by Ms. Martin. 6 yeas, 1 absent (Ms.
Delrossi) APPROVED
