Okeechobee Boulevard Overlay discussion and recommendation Mr. Jim Fleishman introduced the item and provided a historical overview. He highlighted the following summary of background research on the Comprehensive Plan Amendments; proposed Ordinance 2020-03; 2030 Future Land Use Map; Reclassification of Okeechobee Boulevard; Proposed Roadway Classification Map; Future Land Use Categories; Proposed Architectural Theme; and Plan for Nonconforming Uses. Discussion ensued about self-storage on Southern Boulevard; land use and zoning; reclassification of Okeechobee Boulevard; commercial; and minimum parcel size. The floor was opened for public comment. Ms. Nina and Ms. Virginia Standish both spoke about traffic and impact. Mr. Shore spoke about Commercial development. Mr. Lisa Reamy spoke about approaching development thoughtfully. Discussion continued about the overlay; federal funding; AR-5 zoning; commercial; traffic; and FAR. 2.
