10. Community Input: Meeting Open to the Public:
(Limit comments to 5 minutes per person)
The City of Luna Pier operates under rules of parliamentary procedure, which states, “Citizens have the right to
attend the meetings and be permitted to address the body on matters that are relevant to business. Citizens must
observe all of the rules that are set. Members of the public attending the meetings of the governmental body DO
NOT have the right to interrupt or heckle. During public comment time, they have the right to ask to be heard by
requesting permission of the body through the Mayor. All questions, comments and remarks must ALWAYS be
addressed through the Mayor.” Public Comment time is just that—an opportunity for the public to comment. It is
NOT a time for a debate, exchange of ideas, or opportunity to harass board members, all of which will not be
permitted at the City of Luna Pier Council meetings.
11. Council Action Needed:
A. Terry Bryant-4356 4th St. requesting for a portion of his sewer bill to be
waived due to a water leak for two months.
• A proposed motion to approve/deny the request from Terry Bryant
4356 4th St to waive a portion of his sewer billing in the amount of
$_______________ as presented, waiving the reading.
B. Chief of Police Contract-James Vanderaa
• A Proposed motion to approve/deny the Chief of Police Contract with
James Vanderaa for one year starting July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 as
presented, waiving the reading.
C. Special Events Application for Farmers Market
• A proposed motion to approve/deny the Special Events Application for
Farmers Market on Wednesdays in July. July 10, 17,24, 2024 with
possible markets in Sept. and Oct. starting at 3:00pm to 7:00 p.m.
waiving the fees as presented, waiving the reading.
D. Special Events Application for Parks 7 Rec./Fire Dept. for Feather Party
• A proposed motion to approve/deny the Special Events Application for
the Parks & Rec./Fire Sept for the Feather Party-Saturday Nov. 23,
2024 starting at 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Fire Hall, waiving the
fees as presented, waiving the reading.
E. Mayor Gardner’s recommendation to re-appoint Dee Parran
• A proposed motion to approve/deny the recommendation from Mayor
Gardner to re-appoint Dee Parran for City Treasurer, and Executive
Assistant with the one-year term expiring 6-30-2025 as presented,
waiving the reading.
F. Mayor Gardner’s recommendation for Clerk’s position
• A proposed motion to approve/deny the recommendation from Mayor
Gardner of Charles Boyce to fill the Clerk’s and Executive Assistant
position starting June 17, 2024 for a one (1) year contract, pending a
completed back ground check, as presented, waiving the reading
