BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 14, 2019
2:00 P.M.
A special meeting of the C ity of Madeira Beach Board of Commissioners was held at 2:00 p.m.
on June 14, 20 19 in the Patricia Shontz Commission Chambers at City Hall, located at 300
Municipal Drive, Madeira Beach, Florida.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Maggi Black, Mayor
Deby Weinstein, Commissioner District I
Nancy Hodges, Vice-Mayor/Commissioner District 2
Doug Andrews, Commissioner District 3
John Douthirt, Commissioner District 4
MEMBERS ABSENT:
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Jonathan Evans, City Manager

1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Black called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.
2. ROLLCALL
City Clerk, Clara VanB largan called the roll.
3. SHORTLISTING OF CITY MANAGER CANDIDATES (3-5)
The Board of Commissioners each decided on fi ve candidates, with three of the slots opened to
qualified candidates. The two remaining slots were opened to qualified candidates with Veterans
Preference. Because the last two candidates five and six tied with two points each, at the request
of Commissioner Andrews they included both candidates five and six for consideration.
4. DISCUSSION ON AN INTERIM CITY MANAGER
The Board reviewed the interim City Manager applications. Commissioner Andrews mentioned
we may not need to appoint an Interim City Manager if it's just a matter of waiting 2-3 weeks.

Madam Mayor called fo r a special meeting for Monday, 17th June at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the tenure
of the City Clerk. There was a consensus from the Board to have the special meeting after the BOC
Workshop on June 25th at 6:00 p.m.
5. PUBLIC COMMENT
Attorney Patrice Pucci explained to the Board the legal functions for the City Clerk position.
6. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Black adjourned the meeting at 3 :20 p.m.

Chanel 640 and Live Streamed on the Cities Website.
