City Council Meeting Monday May 12, 2025 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Cody Eager. Those in attendance were Cody Eager, Mark Slater, Andy Gappa, Matt Gunderson and Glen Christensen. Others present were Chris Fischer, Heather Utz, Rob Prescher, Wade Johnson, John Tierney and Kathy Guyer. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Glen Christensen to approve the Consent items with one (1) additional administrative item. 7. Discuss and take appropriate action on 5-year agreement with West Central Sanitation to provide a garbage service to the City of Madelia. A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Mark Slater to approve Resolution 2025- 11 Adjusting Rates and Fees. The tipping fee will increase from $5.18 to $5.76 ($0.58/11.2% increase) starting June 1st, 2025. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes, Matt Gunderson-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Andy Gappa-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Mark Slater and seconded by Matt Gunderson to approve seal coat bid to Pearson Bros. in the amount of $59,924.02. Two bids were received Allied Blacktopping $60,406.94 and Pearson Bros., Inc. $59,924.02. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Matt Gunderson-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Glen Christensen to approve advertising for 2- 3 Fire Department Positions. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Matt Gunderson-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Mark Slater to approve reassigning 224 1st St. SW to 120 Cox Avenue SW, due to the position of the new duplex and front doors face Cox Avenue. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Matt Gunderson-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Matt Gunderson to approve The Force Main Grant Agreement which included the 25% contribution from the city within the agreement. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen- Yes and Matt Gunderson-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Mark Slater to approve repealing Ordinance 70.252 Regulating Special Vehicles (2016). Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager- Yes, Mark Slater-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Matt Gunderson-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Matt Gunderson to approve Ordinance 70.253 Regulating Special Vehicles. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Matt Gunderson-Yes. Motion was approved. A Motion was made by Mark Slater and seconded by Andy Gappa to approve West Central Sanitation proposal of a 5-year agreement for garbage service in the City of Madelia. Voting in favor of said motion; Cody Eager-Yes, Mark Slater-Yes, Andy Gappa-Yes, Glen Christensen-Yes and Matt Gunderson-Yes. Motion was approved. With no further business before the Council, A Motion was made by Glen Christensen and seconded by Andy Gappa to adjourn the meeting.
