Approval of Minutes from May 4,2022 Motion by Gerald’s Second by Theodoroff to approve the minutes Aye-All Nay-None REPORTS 2. Treasurer's Report Susan Burcham Gave Report. Trail Tunes Account has $4,769.96 Arts Board Account has $ 4710.41 3. Social Media Update & Statistics Chair Amber Platzke gave updates. The Arts Board added 22 Facebook page likes, 2 Instagram followers. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 4. Review of All Active Upcoming Events/Projects - Subcommittees Must Be Fewer Than Six Members A. Native Plant Sale Craft Table (Platzke) - May 29 Recap Chair Amber Platzke said that the event was well attended, and she received positive feedback. B. Kids Painting Party Events – Upcoming Schedule/Partner with Recreation (Platzke, Geralds, Misczak) May 21 (recap), July 16, September 17 Chair Platzke said that the event had low attendance. After the July and September, the board will evaluate whether they will continue to host the event or not. C. Pride Picnic (Nagle – Chair, Geralds, Theodoroff) June 11 – Recap Member Jennifer Nagle said that the event was very well attended. Over 25 residents showed up for the event, there were games and food and music. It was mentioned that Huffman Park was a good location for the event and that they plan to host the event there next year. It was also mentioned that the weather for this event was very nice. D. Juneteenth Art Contest “Liberation” (Geralds) The Arts Board did not receive any submissions for this event to date. E. Restaurant Nights (Carry Out or Dine In/Rotate Assignment) No New Updates. F. Trail Tunes - August 13 (Bliss, Dombroski, Palazzolo, Theodoroff, Platzke) i. Mia's Off the Trail Fundraiser No New Updates G. Ground interactive murals in parks and schools – (Burcham and Theodoroff) i. Monarch Lifecycle at Rosie’s Park – Resume in Spring for Final Touchups ii. Trotto new installations at Monroe and Wildwood (Platzke) H. Gala (Geralds - Chair, Bliss, Dombroski, Palazzolo and Nagle) - Spring 2023 Pending COVID Developments I. Arts Board 5th Anniversary Celebration/Fundraiser (Geralds, Dombroski, Palazzolo, Nagle with Zmarslik providing video promotion) No New Updates J. Karaoke night fundraiser (Platzke, Palazzolo, Burcham, Nagle, Bliss No New Updates K. Civic Center Complex Renovation – Art Installation Project (Bliss, Burcham) No New Updates 5. Grant Opportunities i. Play Everywhere Kaboom Grant - Fanciful Footpath at MH Library (Misczak staff liaison for Arts Board) a. Ground murals from Northeast Corner Sidewalk to Southeast Corner Sidewalk - Resume work in spring with Board Members and artist and/or student volunteers. No New Updates. ii. Progress Forward Community Advisory Board (CAB) $5,000 Grants - Submitted on January 20, 2022 - Award Notice: Trail Tunes $2,500/Gala $1,500 (Pumpkin Walk denied as violation of their governing rules prohibiting marketing to children) - New Proposals (Gerald, Zmarslik, Rohrbach) No New Updates iii. Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan Grants from $5,000 - $1,000,000 - Deadlines: Feb 15 for June Decision; May 15 for September Decision; August 15 for December Decision; November 15 for March Decision (Geralds, Zmarslik, Rohrbach) No New Updates 6. Huffman Park Mural Quality of Life Awards Approved $2,000 (Reg Council Mtg 6/14/21) Ramirez "Mythical Creatures" Geralds gave an update to the group. She said that Artist Jennifer Ramirez started on the park shelter building and the project is slowly moving forward. Status of $2,500 Grant - Greater Metropolitan Association of Realtors (Misczak) Staff Liaison Owczarzak informed the group that we were not awarded the GMAR Grant for the Huffman Park Mural. 7. DIA Inside/Out - On Hold - Application Deadline July 25, 2022 for 2023 Program No New Updates 8. High School Representatives Pending Change to By-Laws/Board Resolution to Include Students at Large to be Appointed by the Board A. Lamphere - Luetz formally appointed B. Madison - Basler formally appointed C. Bishop Foley - Need Representative NEW BUSINESS 9. SET DATE/TIME FOR NEXT MEETING The next meeting will take place July 26th @ 7PM in the Executive Conference Room.
