Treasurer Report (Mordarski) Mordarski read the following: 10/8/24 Meeting $4,557.92 Arts Board Escrow o $146.45 reserved for Halloween Event o $200 reserved for Eve for painting the mural o $100 reserved for supplies for the mural o $1,000 reserved for the Park Mural Maintenance plan o $500 set aside for the Broadway Karaoke Dance Party  o $250 for Gala supplies and donations o $246.75 Arts and Pride  Unassigned o $2,114.72  Trail Tunes o Estimated around $2,000 by 11/1/24 - waiting for invoices and for the Community Foundation reimbursement of $5,000. 3. Social Media Report (Nagle) Overall, engagement has been up due to Trail Tunes. The top post had a reach of just under 4,000 people. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 4. Arts Prom 2024 (Geralds, Bliss, Nagle, Covert and Popp) Geralds reported that The Arts Gala has been moved to May 16th, 2025. The new theme is The Prom of Our Lives. Social Media posts will start happening after Christmas. The subcommittee will reconvene and discuss who is on the committee and will plan a meeting in January 5. Skelebration Trail (Geralds, Dorsey) The event is planned for Saturday, October 19th. Last year's attendance was low due to the weather. There are three available time slots, and setup will begin at 5:30 PM. Bliss volunteered to help with the event. The event will conclude by 8:15 PM. 6. Trail Tunes & Bandshell Ribbon Cutting Recap (Bliss, Palazzolo, Covert) Bliss reported that attendance has not yet reached the 3,000-5,000 range. While the bandshell was utilized effectively, a significant issue was with food trucks: three did not show up, and one (Outta Space Exclusive Eats) arrived very late. To address this, the proposed solution is to increase the deposit requirement. The subcommittee's goal is to further reduce the event's footprint. Bliss noted that the Battle event went well, and the representative from the Consumer Energy Foundation was pleased with the setup. Geralds suggested the possibility of reworking the Battle of the Bands as a separate event. Bliss also discussed with City Manager Marsh the idea of starting a Summer Concert Series following the Festival in the Park on June 29th. The proposal is for weekly Wednesday concerts, featuring the same bands that would later perform at Trail Tunes on September 6th, to promote those acts. Geralds recommended featuring different bands instead of repeating the same lineup every year, but Bliss pointed out that the selection depends on the applications received. He plans to launch the band application process in the coming weeks. He wants to pay them $450 to $500. Additionally, Bliss proposed that Parks and Recreation could organize extra activities, secure a food truck, and ensure a Park Ranger is on duty. Funding could come from the Madison Heights Community Foundation or be included in the budget. 7. Broadway Karaoke Dance Party (Bliss, Nagle) No Updates. 8. Arts and Pride (Nagle, Dorsey, Popp) HREC aims to meet with the subcommittee to discuss potential expansions for next year, with plans to hold the meeting before Christmas. Councilor Rohrbach and Councilor Wright have had discussions with Nagle. 9. Disability Pride Month (Covert, Geralds, Palazzolo) SILC is interested in working with the Arts Board again for next year. 10. Civic Center Hopscotch (Popp, Geralds) Geralds will reach out to Eve. 11. Park Mural Maintenance Plan Covert reported that Jennifer Ramirez will go through parks to ensure the murals are in good shape. The butterfly mural is also not accessible with current construction, but it was in poor condition. 12. DIA Inside Out Program (King, Nagle, Juska-Svoba, Geralds) Mordarski announced that Madison Heights was selected for the 2025 Inside|Out program. This has a quick turnaround. The next week, the committee will scout locations and take photos to send to DPS and City Staff. 13. Civic Center Art Exhibit (Palazzolo, Bliss, Nagle, Popp) Staff recommends that the program be sunset indefinitely. Mordarski will send an email to people who have submitted to let them know about the changes. King will also look at options to get students involved and have their art showcased at City Hall, similar to how they do at her job. 14. HREC Cookbook Collaboration (Nagle, Popp) No updates. 15. Bandshell Utilization Brainstorm Brainstorm Ideas included:  School Bands and Ensembles o Utilize local youth, middle school, and high school bands for performances. o Feature the Lamphere and Madison high school bands, either separately or together for a combined ensemble event.  o Invite the Garvey’s (high school band) to perform.  Royal Oak Concert Band o Host a concert by the Royal Oak Concert Band (60-80 members), featuring their woodwind section.  Live Theatre and Dress Rehearsals o Offer the space for theater rehearsals, including dress rehearsals for local productions and musical reviews. o Host live theater performances to bring drama and performing arts to the community  Dance and Cultural Celebrations o Present "Dance Around the World" events to highlight various dance styles from different cultures. o Folklorico dancing  Open Mic and Jam Sessions o Offer open mic nights and jam sessions for local musicians, poets, and performers to showcase their talents. Provide a sign-up sheet for interested participants to register in advance.  Arts and Crafts Demonstrations o Organize arts and crafts sessions where local artists can demonstrate various techniques.  Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) – Painting Events o Partner with the DIA for a "Painting with a Twist" event, offering guided painting sessions in the park.  Yoga and Movement Activities  Cheerleading Performances  Dueling Comedians and Dueling Pianos  Movies in the Park  Stories in the Park  Bravo Watch Party  Kindergarten Graduations  Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) – Quartet Performance  Huber and Breese Music Performance NEW BUSINESS 16. Arts Board Merch (King, Covert, Popp) Board will research marketing options for the board such as merchandise, including 70th anniversary merchandise.  17.
