A Crime Commission Meeting was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 2:30 PM at City Hall -
Executive Conference Room, 300 W. 13 Mile Rd.

Meeting called to order at 2:32 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion made to approve the April 8, 2025 meeting minutes with corrections of the roll call
section made by Covert, seconded by Peterson.

REPORTS
Chief's Report
We just swore in a new officer, Officer DaJuan Johnson. We sponsored him through the police
academy. He graduated and was sworn in as an officer last week. We have one officer in the
background process and one vacancy. For our dispatchers, we are currently still at 9 dispatchers
and have 1 more in the background process. We recently promoted Officer Kari Randolph to
Sergeant and Officer Teonna Hollowell was selected as the new school resource officer for Page
Middle School. Deputy Chief Filzek is recovering and is feeling much better and is back to
work.
Council Report
No report. No council members in attendance
UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Follow up on social media post
Secretary Schell has saved the pdf that was created for the safety tips and will create a social
media post to go out on the 10th of every month until March 2026. There are some public shares
and likes of the posts on the Facebook page.
Follow up on magnet purchase
We will have to carry over the magnet purchase idea until the next meeting when Councilman
Fleming is in attendance.
Follow up on Bike Rodeo
There were two members (Peterson & Roberts) from the Crime Commission in attendance that
helped with registering the bicycles, handing out the PD backpacks with goodies for the kids and
the other promotional items that Councilman Fleming brought to be distributed. We had great
weather and a good turn out for the Bike Rodeo. The tentative date for the 2026 Bike Rodeo is
Saturday, June 13th, 2026.
NEW BUSINESS
K-9 Demonstration
The K9 demonstration will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Rosie’s Park from 10:00
a.m. – 12:00 p.m. We will be utilizing the north west part of the park between the Farnum and
Gardenia parking lots. Chairperson Peterson will create the flyer to be distributed to the
community for the K9 Demonstration event.
Chair Person Elections
Co-Chairperson Covert nominated Chairperson Peterson to remain as Chairperson.
Motion made to re-elect Alexandra Peterson as Chairperson of the Crime Commission made by
Covert, seconded by Scott.
Commissioner Scott nominated Co-Chairperson Covert to remain as Co-Chairperson.
Motion made to re-elect Martha Covert as Co-Chairperson of the Crime Commission made by
Scott, seconded by Roberts.

Motion made to adjourn the meeting made by Covert, seconded by Scott.
