CITY OF MADISON HEIGHTS POLICE & FIRE RETIREMENT SYSTEM SPECIAL SCHEDULED TRUSTEE MEETING June 26, 2024 The special meeting of the City of Madison Heights Policemen & Firemen Retirement System Board of Trustees was held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 8:36 a.m. at 31313 Brush Street, Madison Heights, Michigan. Present: Chairperson, Jeff Geralds Board Members: Linda Kunath, Brett Moore, Anthony Roberts, and Gary Strongarone, arrived at 9:05 a.m. Others Present: Retirement System Attorney Thomas Michaud Others Present: Dave Thayer 51-24 Approval of Minutes of the Regular meeting of May 21, 2024. Motion by Trustee Moore and supported by Trustee Roberts to approve minutes of the regular meeting of April 16, 2024. Yeas: Geralds, Kunath, Moore, Roberts, Strongarone Nays: None Motion Carried. Meeting Open to the Public No items were discussed. 52-24 Roll call vote to go into closed session for legal advice. Motion by Trustee Moore supported by Trustee Roberts to go into closed session pursuant to attorney client privilege. Yeas: Geralds, Kunath, Moore, Roberts, Strongarone Nays: None Motion Carried. Disability Retirement Application – Spangler C. The disability retirement application of Carey Spangler was discussed. 53-24 Receive and File Medical Report from MMRO. Motion by Trustee Roberts supported by Trustee Moore to receive and file medical report from MMRO. Yeas: Geralds, Kunath, Moore, Roberts, Strongarone Nays: None Motion Carried. 54-24 Receive and File Medical Report from Carey Spangler. Motion by Trustee Roberts supported by Trustee Moore to receive and file medical report from Carey Spangler. Yeas: Geralds, Kunath, Moore, Roberts, Strongarone Nays: None Motion Carried. 1 06/26/2024 55-24 Approval to Forward Additional Medical Information to MMRO. Motion by Trustee Roberts supported by Trustee Moore to forward additional medical information to MMRO for supplemental report. Yeas: Geralds, Kunath, Moore, Roberts, Strongarone Nays: None Motion Carried. 56-24 Approval of Invoice. Motion by Trustee Moore and supported by Trustee Roberts to approve payment of an invoice from Managed Medical Review Organization, Inc. MMRO in the amount of $641.25, dated 5/29/2024. Yeas: Geralds, Kunath, Moore, Roberts, Strongarone Nays: None Motion Carried. New Business. The Board was advised that PNC sent a notice that effective July 1, 2024 employee benefit plan checks that are uncashed and outstanding for more than 180 days from the date of original issue will be redeposited. PNC strongly recommends that Boards discuss with pensioners the advantages of switching to direct deposit for future payments. 57-24 Adjournment. Motion by Trustee Strongarone to adjourn the meeting.
