Copies of said notice were made available to members of the general public. 5) REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 17, 2022 6) CHAIRMAN/EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT a) 2023 Membership b) Nominations for Officers 2023 (1) At the December meeting of each year, the ex-officio member, who will be the election officer, will then accept nominations for the position of Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Member-At-Large. (2) All nominations, whether oral or written, must be made, seconded and then accepted by the individual nominated. At the beginning of the January meeting, the election officer will accept any nominations from the floor and call the roll to determine those eligible to receive ballots and cast votes. The election officer will prepare the ballots indicating the officers' title and a space in which the eligible voters can write in their choice for each officer's position. The election officer will distribute the ballots to those eligible to vote. Upon completion of the actual vote, the election officer will collect the ballots and will then tabulate the results. The results will be verified by the Council liaison and by any member of the Commission who is not running for election and who has been appointed by the election officer. (3) For those looking for a family-friendly Holiday activity, the Madison-based Voice Actor’s Orchestra will perform a radio-play version of the 1964 Rankin/Bass Holiday Classic Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The performance will be at 7:30 on December 23 at the Arts Center. No rehearsal and no access to the script ahead of time, and audience members will be asked to take roles. (4) Local Jazz Pianist and Piano Teacher Peter Favilla will hold a New Year’s Eve jazz concert from 6:00-9:00 pm. Morris Voice Vote: Unanimous 6) CHAIRMAN/EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT a. 2022 Budget Discussion (view the proposed 2023 budget information here https://1drv.ms/x/s!AnwS_DqnT6nMpR3a5NcK9Rq3Cqk3?e=jBMiT9): There was a substantive discussion on the 2023 budget. The points of note include the future of May Day. As this event has been consistently underperforming and it has become harder and harder to raise fund and engage volunteers. A meeting on May Day will be scheduled for early in the new year. Motion to approve as adjusted the DDC 2023 Budget/MMSF Grant Request for 2023 and send it to the MMSF for forwarding to the Mayor and Borough Council. Moved by: D. Starker and Seconded by: P. Christmas Parade: Chair Suzy Whitehorn and Lisa Ellis initiated a discussion on the possibility of the DDC becoming a more prominent sponsor of the Madison Christmas Committee and the Christmas Parade. Council Member Deb Coen gave update on Dodge Field Update, targeting 2023 for the project. An ordinance was Introduced earmarking $89K from General Capital Improvement Fund Solar Carport consulting. The council also approved an agreement with Animal Control Solutions as St. Hubert’s will no longer manage this. The Rotary Christmas Tree Sale at Dodge Field was also approved. 10) PLANNING BOARD REPORT: There was no report. 11) FOUNDATION REPORT: A foundation meeting will be scheduled to vote on the 2023 Grant. 12) MADISON AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REPORT: John Morris reported on recent Chamber activities including the brand-new table tent Card for restaurants, which feature a QR code which brings you to the business directory. The Find Rosie the Rose City Reindeer Scavenger Hunt begins Friday, November 25 and runs through Monday, December 12. The Chamber Gift Check program has moved from Provident Bank to Investors. Waverly Place Reconstruction (Project Webpage https://www.rosenet.org/1410/Waverly- Place-Reconstruction ): The Waverly Place reconstruction project experienced a major setback as it was determined that the traffic pattern could not be substantially changed due to the location of the underground electric vault. The Madison Holiday Arts Festival sponsored by the Downtown Development Commission, is scheduled for three days, from November 25-27. There are 20 events at five different sites: the Arts Center, METC Annex, Grace Church, Harvest Bistro, and Shanghai Jazz. The Morris County Dance Festival Week will be held at the Community Arts Center from Monday, November 28 through Sunday, December 4. Details can also be found on the MACA website. 4. A busy weekend is coming up at the Center. Friday night, there is a sold-out performance of The Golden Gays Thank Yule for Being a Friend, which is a benefit for Mutual Morris; Saturday evening is the Gurlzilla Concert, featuring all-female bands in a benefit concert for Repro Legan Defense Fund, and Sunday afternoon the New Jersey Jazz Society will hold a concert with the Martin Pizzarelli Trio. 14) AD HOC COMMITTEE AND PROJECT UPDATES: There are no planned reports for these items at this meeting except for those highlighted. a. Madison Christmas Parade: Chair Suzy Whitehorn noted that the parade takes place on Friday, November 25 and the DDC Commissioners will be marching with members of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce. All are encouraged to attend! b. Secret Santa Holiday Giveaway: This event will take place on four Saturdays in December and a Signup Genius will be sent to the commissioners.
