1. CALL TO ORDER BY THE CHAIRPERSON at 7:36 pm
2. ANNOUNCEMENT OF NOTICE
Statement of Compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act: Betsy Uhlman,
Chairperson, opened the meeting as follows: “Let the minutes reflect that adequate
notice of this meeting has been provided in the following manner: At the meeting of the
Commission, held on January 30, 2014, the posted annual calendar of meetings of the
Madison Environmental Commission was approved with minor modifications which were
submitted to the Borough and posted at the bulletin board at the main entrance of the
Hartley Dodge Memorial Building; were sent to the Madison Eagle and the Daily Record;
and filed with the Borough Clerk; all in accordance with the ‘Open Public Meetings Act.’”
3. PRESENT: Jeff Sarrett, Stephan Stocker, Betsy Uhlman, Claire Whitcomb.
ABSENT: Missy Durham, Jeff Gertler, Judy Honohan, Mary Lewis, Robert Catalanello
(Council Liaison).

4. MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting of October 30, 2014 were approved without

6. ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION:
!N Plastic Bag Proposal The MEC resolved to support a reusable bag initiative, by
submitting a reusable bag message for the annual recycling newsletter, reaching out to
the Chamber of Commerce and DDC on the initiative, add a message to Madison’s
Facebook page and recycling page and draft a message for the MEC page. Marilyn
Musieski proposed to lead the initiative."
9N Pilgrim Pipeline and Madison The neighboring communities of Chatham Boro and
Twp.are holding meetings and seeking to pass resolutions like Madison’s. A regional
meeting is desired; Madison would be part of it."
3. 123*%&+"#$@/$2)*&+"M$+)$/"(832)$: The entire trail has been cut back once. Two-thirds of
the fenceline has been cleared. Barberry and small trees have been removed.
Volunteers from STMB, GCM and Art of Living have helped in clearing and in planting
native trees. A doe remains in the fencing.
