Madison Environmental Commission Meeting Minutes February 27, 2020 1. Call to order by Chairperson Claire Whitcomb at Hartley Dodge 2. Announcement of meeting notice Statement of Compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act: Read by Claire Whitcomb, Chairperson. This meeting of the Madison Environmental Commission complies with the Open Public Meetings Act. (P.L. 1975 c. 231) Notice of this meeting was provided to the Madison Eagle, Daily Record, Star Ledger, and to tapintomadison.com. Copies of this notice are posted on the bulletin board at the main entrance of Hartley Dodge Memorial and were made available to the general public. 3. Present: MEC members Stephan Stocker, Trina Mallik, Claire Whitcomb, Brian Monaghan, Joan Maccari, Renee Shalhoub, Ann Huber Absent: Nichole Wood, and Maureen Byrne 4. Guests: David Schott (Realogy Employee), Rebecca Bertrand, Bridget Daley, Lisa Jordan 5. Events: Madison Master Plan Meeting – Meeting will be held on March 31st at Rose Hall. Topics to be discussed will include Madison land use, future demographics, and public safety. Green Vision Forum – On March 19th there will be a meeting to discuss the forum, who will participate, and how to improve participation. ABC’s of Organic Lawn Care – Presentation discussing home lawn care using organic methods will occur at the Madison Library on March 30th at 7 pm. Town Swap will be held on April 25th at the DPW garage. Volunteers are needed! Green Fair will be held on April 25th at the Madison Library from 1-3pm. Stream Cleaning project was discussed. It may include employee volunteers from Realogy. Date will be determined at a future date. 6. Continuing Business: Email Platform It has been determined the platform will use Constant Contact to better keep members informed. Shade Tree Ordinance: the ordinance was approved at the last Council meeting. Single Use Plastic Bag Ordinance Final resolution passed last week with minimal edits. I will take effect March 1st. Environmental Resource Inventory Inventory needs to be completed this year. Sustainable Madison will complete the mission. 7. New Business: David Schott has offered a group of Realogy employees to volunteer to help with environmental efforts in Madison. Several ideas were suggested. Concrete projects will be determined at future meetings. Renee will look into MEC signing a petition from NRDC prohibiting efforts to legislate a dilution of non-disclosure laws.
