Historic Preservation Commission

MADISON HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Regular Meeting – February 14, 2023 Meeting conducted remotely by Zoom Attending: Madison Historic Preservation (“HPC”) Chair Jill Rhodes, Members, John Forte, Max Hart, Mary Ellen Lenahan, David Luber, Adrienne Novak, and Tyler Merson. Absent: Members Chris Kellogg and John Solu and Council Liaison Debra Coen The meeting was called to order by Dr. Rhodes at 7:32 pm. She announced the meeting was called in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act. A verbal roll call was taken. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the January 10th, 2023, Public Meeting were considered. On motion made, seconded, and carried, the minutes were approved as written. Sign & Façade Reviews: There were no new Sign & Façade Reviews. TCC Reviews: There were no new TCC Reviews. New Business: Draft Ordinance Review: A draft of the Madison Borough NJ Demolition Ordinance was shared and discussed briefly. The commission members present decided to wait until it has been finalized to approve it. Old Business: Reorganization: Dr. Rhodes asked for a nomination for Vice Chair. Max Hart nominated Adrienne Novak. On motion made, seconded, and carried, the nomination was approved. Updates from Liaisons: Planning Board: Mr. Forte confirmed that the 3-5 Central Avenue project is going through the Planning Board process. Zoning Board: None. Open Spaces: The Open Spaces Commission did not hold a meeting this month as there were not sufficient members present for a quorum. Historical Society: Mr. Luber reported the Historical Society programs will resume in March 2023. The first meeting will be held on March 21st, via Zoom, on the subject of the City of Paterson. Borough Council: None. Other Business: Dr. Rhodes announced that there will be a training session for HPC members in Trenton on March 18th. Interested members should contact her to arrange for registration for the event. Public Comment: There were no comments from the public. Future Meetings, Adjournment: The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023, on Zoom.
