Open Space, Recreation & Historic Preservation Advisory Committee

The meeting of the Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Advisory Committee Committee was called to order by Council Liaison Astri Baillie on Wednesday, February 12,2014 at 7:30 pm. In attendance: Melissa Honohan, Chris Kellogg, Tom Piskula, Lisa Ellis, Astri Baillie. The Advisory Committee held its 2014 organization meeting. • Lisa Ellis nominated Melissa Honohan as Advisory Committee Chair, Second by Chris Kellogg. Voice Vote Approved. • Astri Baillie nominated Cathie Coultasato be Secretary with Chris Kellogg as backup, Second by Melissa Honohan. Voice Vote Approved. December 11, 2013 Minutes were approved, with correction. Correction was the addition of Lisa Ellis to “in attendance”. AstriBaille moved to approve correction, Second Melissa Honohan, Voice Vote approval. Melissa Honohan gave a review of the Quarterly Report that was presented to the Borough Council in January 2014. MRC Master Plan ad hoc group lead Councilman Bob Landrigan will provide an update on the status of MRC recommended projects to the Borough Council during the first quarter. Open Space will likely receive applications based on the recommendations. On January 1, 2014, the Borough Council approved the Advisory Committee’s recommendation regarding the MRC Trail proposal submitted by the Land Conservancy of New Jersey. Astri Baillie will contact Bob Vogel to set up a meeting in February of a sub group (Astri Baillie, Chris Kellogg, Melissa Honohan, and Tom Piskula) to work on the County request for verification of Open Space and protected areas in Madison. Lisa Ellis made a motion to go into Executive Session, Second by Melissa Honohan. Advisory Committee went into Executive Session to discuss property. In March the Advisory Committee will discuss the possible property acquisition list. Next meeting will be held on March 12, 2014.
