SHADE TREE MANAGEMENT BOARD Borough of Madison Madison, New Jersey 07940 Minutes of June 21, 2012 Meeting The Shade Tree Management Board held its regular monthly meeting on June 21, 2012 in the second Floor Committee Room of Hartley Dodge Memorial, 50 Kings Road, Madison, New Jersey. Present: Mike Kopas, Penny Garman, Gene Cracovia, Christine Hammitt, Steve Miller, Alan Andreas, Nancy Bruce, Vince Licari, Jack Kranefuss. Also present: Paul Allocco Absent: David Maines Pledge of Allegiance Call to Order Mike called the meeting to order at 8:00 and read the Sunshine Law for compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act. Minutes The Board approved the May 17, 2012 minutes. The Board addressed the following items of business: Council Liaison Report No report. Budget Report Tree planting money will be used to continue pruning and removals on a timely basis. Ray Codey assured the Board that the Borough of Madison will continue to plant and maintain trees. Borough Tree Status Trees need to be elevated from the storms and removals continue. TCC No report. FMST The replacement pear trees have been planted. The next planting is scheduled for the fall throughout Madison. A tree may be planted in James Park in memory of Joe Mezzacca. Parks Advisory Committee The May Day event cleaned up and improved Livesey Park The High School Service Day focused on Summerhill Park and the Luke Miller property where 7 trees were planted. Coviello dug the holes. Old Business Nancy will review the Year End Report, available online. New Business A greenhouse project is being proposed for 90K at the Community Garden of the Madison Recreation Complex. A dogwood was planted in honor of Larry Tabor at Grace Episcopal. Mike will start the process to reach out for prices to update the Management Plan. The Board adjourned at 9:30 am. Minutes submitted by Christine Hammitt.
