SHADE TREE MANAGEMENT BOARD Borough of Madison Madison, New Jersey 07940 Minutes of January 21, 2016 Reorganization Meeting The Shade Tree Management Board held its Reorganization Meeting on January 21, 2016 in the second Floor Committee Room of Hartley Dodge Memorial, 50 Kings Road, Madison, New Jersey. Call to Order Alan Andreas called the Reorganization Meeting to order at 8 am and read the Sunshine Law for compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act. Present: Alan Andreas, Christine Hammitt, Steve Miller, Nancy Bruce, Lauren Hagerstrom, Gene Cracovia, Penny Garman and Vince Licari. Absent: Mike Kopas, Paul Allocco and David Maines. SHADE TREE MANAGEMENT BOARD Borough of Madison Madison, New Jersey 07940 Minutes of January 21, 2016 Meeting The Shade Tree Management Board held its regular monthly meeting on January 21, 2016 at 8:00 am in the Committee Room of Hartley Dodge Memorial, 50 Kings Road, Madison, New Jersey. Call to Order Alan Andreas called the meeting to order and read the Sunshine Law for compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act. Present: Alan Andreas, Steve Miller, Christine Hammitt, Gene Cracovia, Nancy Bruce, Lauren Hagerstrom, Penny Garman and Vince Licari. Absent: Mike Kopas, Paul Allocco and David Maines. Pledge of Allegiance Minutes The Board approved the amended December 17, 2015 minutes. The Board addressed the following items of business: Budget Report As of January 18, 2016, there are approximately $6,000 remaining in 2015 budgeted encumbered maintenance services funds. The 2016 budget will increase $2,000 to $117,655. Council Liaison Report No report. Patrick Rowe will be sent the Community Forestry Management Plan – 2015 Annual Accomplishment Report. Public Comments and Correspondence The Borough Clerk’s office reached out to STMB, asking if the tree and sidewalk at 92 Ridgedale Avenue, in particular, had been discussed within the wider discussion of the Ridgedale Avenue road reconstruction. Borough Tree Maintenance Status Honor won the tree trim contract. Penny put out for bid the spring trees order. She will need 128 new door hangers by March 15. Twenty-three redbuds will replace the removals on Ridgedale Avenue. Lauren, Mike and Alan will mark the placements. TCC One case was reviewed. FMST A line item was added in the budget for watering trees; FMST will design and install an educational display in the Coccia Realty window; Cathie Coultas is raising money to restore the shelter in Memorial Park. Parks Advisory Committee The replacement Park signs have been ordered. Old Business Alan, Vince and Gene will meet with Jeff Gertler of the Historic Preservation Commission to discuss the preservation of heritage properties and their trees. Vince will evaluate the tree at 78 Samson to determine whether or not the tree will survive after construction. It may be necessary to instruct the builder to cut down and replace the tree. Christine will complete and submit the Community Forestry Management Plan – Annual Accomplishment Report by February 15 to NJDEP. The Board adjourned at 9:51 am.
