SHADE TREE MANAGEMENT BOARD Borough of Madison Madison, New Jersey 07940 Minutes of March 17 , 2016 Meeting The Shade Tree Management Board held its regular monthly meeting on March 17, 2016 at 8:00 am in the Committee Room of Hartley Dodge Memorial, 50 Kings Road, Madison, New Jersey. Call to Order Gene Cracovia called the meeting to order and read the Sunshine Law for compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act. Present: Gene Cracovia, Alan Andreas, Steve Miller, Christine Hammitt, Lauren Hagerstrom and Mike Kopas and Penny Garman. Also present: David Maines. Absent: Paul Allocco, Vince Licari and Nancy Bruce. Pledge of Allegiance Minutes The Board approved the amended February 18, 2016 minutes. The Board addressed the following items of business: Public Comments and Correspondence David will look at two trees, one on Vinton and the other at 13 Rosemont. Borough Tree Status Tree planting door-hangers will be available in the Committee Room closet in the STMB file cabinet. Lauren, Alan and Mike will choose 23 planting spots on Ridgedale to replace the trees removed in the road construction. Penny will send plant list spots for spring planting. Mike will assess the trees on Prospect, especially #37, in anticipation of the Prospect Street re-paving TCC Two applications were reviewed. Budget Report The amount of $76,650 was encumbered for removals and pruning; $200 was transferred due to an increase in the cost of new trees - $16,698.35 is pending for Barton Nursery of the $117,650 annual budget. FMST The Friends allocated $5,000 to water the newly planted spring trees through the summer. The Friends will have a display at the Green Fair in the Chase Room on April 16 from 1to 3 pm. Parks Advisory Committee No report. Old Business Alan will attend a March 19 presentation by a professional planner outlining the process of identifying Heritage Homes. Erika Cruz instructed the Board on how to set up our Rosenet.org email accounts. New Business Core Training will be offered in Paramus on April 23 by the NJ State Forestry. Arbor Day is planned for May 7. The Board adjourned at 9:11 am. Minutes submitted by Christine Hammitt.
