SUSTAINABLE MORRISTOWN. Heather met with Paul Miller, Sustainability
Coordinator of Morristown, and gave a report on Sustainable Morristown. Paul is happy
to meet anytime with our group. There was a discussion on the possibility of reaching
out to the Dodge Foundation for a possible grant to fund a part time Sustainability
Coordinator for Madison.
WORKPLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE JERSEY SILVER CERTIFICATION.
a) Anti-idling. A discussion of possible plans for anti-idling was held. Recognizing
the difficulties of police enforcement, the committee will instead focus on
education materials to be distributed through the Borough website and school
distributions. Lisa Ellis and Bob Vogel agreed to work with the Police and other
organizations on this.
b) Other action items were discussed with Heather updating the workplan as
appropriate (copy attached).
FUNDRAISING
Heather showed an example of a stuffable reusable shopping bag as a fundraiser. Lisa
and Jim will think of ways to engage the DDC.
Betsy stated she raised $1,000 through the sale of light bulbs with the Project Porchlight
program.
OUTREACH
Heather will reach out to Paul Miller to see if he will attend a joint Sustainable
Madison/DDC/Chamber meeting later in the year. Lisa and Jim will bring the topic to
the DDC.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:57pm.
