Sustainable Madison Advisory Committee

Sustainable Madison Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes January 26, 2016 We called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Announced The Open Public Meeting Act. Present were Stephan Stocker, Steven Eget, Gene Cracovia, and Amy Terraccino. Absent were Pat Rowe, Jim Burnet, Wayne Desjadon, David Manes, Sandra Gaurin, Ellen Kranefuss, Heather Shepard, Marilyn Musielski, Harriet Honigfeld, and Kathleen Caccavale. Only two absentees responded to advance emails, Harriet Honigfeld and Kathleen Caccavale. There were no communications to present or members of the public present. There were no 2015 minutes to approve. We approved the 2016 meeting dates with base agendas. Then the committee reviewed three documents: Sustainable Jersey’s Recertification File, Madison’s Silver Actions from Jim Burnet, and the 2012 work plan of Sustainable Madison. After review of the above documents, the committee decided to move ahead toward recertification of Madison’s Silver status by updating 170 points of the 285 points that are due this year. Gene Cracovia will update 50 points for Shade Tree Management Board, Steve Eget will update 20 points of Municipal Carbon Footprint, and Stephan Stocker will update 10 points for Madison’s Community Garden Activities. In addition, Stephan will search out people to update another 80 points for credit. Amy Terraccino, who the Mayor appointed January 25, 2016, will review Sustainable Jersey’s Actions to find those she is qualified to update. Other decisions made were; Steven Eget will Chair the committee for the rest of 2016. We will submit to the Mayor Gene Cracovia to be the liaison from Shade tree Management Board with voting privilege, and Victoria Mezik as a non-voting member-pending interview. Note: Victoria is a student enrolled at the College of Saint Elizabeth. Meeting adjourned 8:30 PM.
