Sustainable Madison Minutes Feb 19, 2019 Borough council Liaison, Maureen Byrne, called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm. STATEMENT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS ACT: “In compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act, adequate notice of this meeting of the Sustainable Madison Advisory Committee Meeting was provided by transmitting a copy of the meeting notice to the Madison Eagle and Morris County Daily Record, posting a copy on the bulletin board at the main entrance of the Hartley Dodge Memorial, and filing a copy in the office of the Clerk, all on July 2, 2012. This notice was made available to members of the general public.” The following acknowledged their presence: Maureen Byrne, Borough Council Liaison Gene Cracovia, Resident Peter Fried, Resident Kathleen Caccavale, Resident Joan Maccari, MEC Representative New Officers Chosen: Chairperson: Kathi Caccavale - voted in unanimously Secretary: Joan Maccari - voted in unanimously New meeting dates and times approved by unanimous vote: Third Tuesday of every month, at 1:00pm, (except for May14, 2019 which will be the second Tuesday of the month due to member travel conflicts). In order to clarify who are regular voting members of the Sustainable Madison Advisory Committee, and who are not, an excerpt from ORDINANCE 3-2012 ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF MADISON ESTABLISHING THE SUSTAINABLE MADISON ADVISORY COMMITTEE was read, as follows: SS 26 -3. Membership Membership shall consist of 9 regular members and 2 non-voting members. All voting members of the Committee shall be residents of the Borough of Madison. All members shall serve without compensation. The Committee shall be comprised of the following persons, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council: (A) The Council Liaison to the Madison Environmental Commission (Regular Member), (B) The Borough Administrator and/or Assistant Borough Administrator (non-voting), (C) A representative from the office of the Superintendent of the Madison Public School System (Regular Member), (D) The Superintendent of Public Works (non-voting), (E) One (1) member of the Madison Environmental Commission (Regular Member), (F) Six (6) members who are residents of the Borough (Regular Members). The Committee shall have the right to appoint non-voting advisory members with special abilities and expertise beneficial to the Committee’s objectives. In answer to a question about the timetable for submission of our application for 2019 certification, Kathleen Caccavale explained that we must submit a draft application by June 2, 2019. However, the final form of the application is not due until December 2019. WORKPLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE JERSEY SILVER CERTIFICATION: Individual members of the committee were assigned specific items on our 2019 Master Tracking Sheet. Each member will research their assigned items, determine the types of supporting documents needed for those items, collect those documents for the application, and be prepared to write descriptions of those items.
