Rolling Action Item: Peter will correspond with Grace Kim and Steve Tindell, calling for a
meeting to discuss solar panel possibilities with school representatives. He will report back to
this meeting on the results.
Pam Hogan gave an update on the PSE&G grant applications. The review of grants has been
delayed. They have been more competitive than expected. The delay means pushing back the
timeline.
$20K for Green Infrastructure; $2K for Bicycle Racks.
Mary Ellen Hennessy-Jones led us in a status update on Sustainable Jersey actions.
The next submission date is May 12th, with the final submission on July 27th.
Peter shared the idea of “Coaching,” which the Climate Action Committee might adopt. The
idea is to have volunteers to help guide people who are interested in converting gas to
electricity in their homes, installing heat pumps, purchasing an EV, etc.
Monday is the Taste of Madison - Angelique is working on “greening” the program. Java’s
Compost will be there, and food waste will be collected at two stations. There is a sign-up
sheet to volunteer to monitor food waste (30 minutes slots). There is a bring your own initiative
- people who bring their own utensils can enter to win a prize basket.
Lisa provided an update on the digital Madison Environmental Resource Inventory.
We agreed to further discuss connections between climate action metrics and the Madison ERI.
Rolling action items are as follows:
Action Item: Peter Fried would like information on upcoming events in order to share
information to the Madison Eagle. Jersey Green column volunteers are needed on an ongoing
basis.
The next SMAC meeting will be on Tuesday, May 16 at 1:00 P.M.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 P.M.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Lisa Jordan.
