Sign Design Review Committee Meeting Date: August 2018 9:00 am – 10:30 am Members in Attendance: Craig Spadafora Barbara Murphy Members not In Attendance: Deborah Burke Yem Lip Nelson Miller Also in Attendance: Joseph O’Callaghan – Designee for Nelson Miller Dave Morse Jim Tuxbury Cathy Bartlett Meeting Called to Order 9:10 Updates from Compliance Officers 84 Eastern Ave – Red House Karate Studio – they had several flags and banners on the building. Sent a letter to property owner and the studio operator advising them of illegal flags & banners. They also have NOT applied for a sign permit & were notified of the Sign Ordinance. They removed the flags but not the banners. Tickets issued. 497 Broadway – Strength Development Training – new business just opened, has banner on the building. We advised the operator of the Sign Ordinance and how to apply for a sign, as well as applying for an Occupancy permit. Applications for Consideration: 1. The committee reviewed a sign request from Paris Glams located at 187 Salem St. Present was owner Celestin Kamba Motion was made Barbara Murphy second by Joseph O’Callaghan to approve this application 3 YEA 0 NEA 2. The committee reviewed a sign request from Prime Storage located at 9 Linehurst St. Present was Lindsay Ruggles from Fast Track Signs. Motion was made by Joseph O’callaghan second by Barbara Murphy to approve this application for a Free Standing Sign and Awning. 3 YEA 0 NEA 3. The Committee reviewed a sign request from Metro North Children’s Learning Center located at 605 Broadway. Present was Mark Conserva from Metro Sign and Awning. Motion was made by Barbara Murphy second by Joseph O’Callaghan to approve this application. 3 YEA 0 NEA 4. The Committee did not review a sign request from Luxury Aesthetics located at 523 Main Street due to no representation from this applicant. 5. The committee reviewed a sign request from Pelicar Window Tinting located at 140 Eastern Ave. Present was business owner Tony and Jean Raphael. Motion was made by. Barbara Murphy and Second by Joseph O’Callaghan to approve this application. 3 YEA 0 NEA 6. The committee reviewed a sign request from Up Tea Hub located at 7 Pleasant Street. Present was Owner Yu Du. Motion was made by Joseph O’Callaghan second by Barbara Murphy to Table this application until the September meeting to allow the business owner to review his sign.
