MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MINUTES OF AUGUST 9, 2011 The Manistee City Council met in a work session on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 7: 00 p.m., Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee MI 49660. MEMBERS PRESENT: Richard Mack, Catherine Zaring, Ed Cote, Bob Hornkohl, Alan Marshall, Colleen Kenny, Ilona Haydon MEMBERS ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Department Directors, Building Inspector, SR2S Representatives, Public and Media Discussion on MCC Safe Routes to School (SR2S) and Complete Streets Program. Mr. Kevin Hughes of the District Health Department made a presentation to Council about complete streets. Manistee Catholic Central made a presentation on Safe Routes to School grant application. Requests City Council support SR2S with a Council Resolution at the August 16, 2011 meeting. Resolution of support will be on the next Council agenda for consideration. Discussion on Blight Ordinance / Related Issues. Discussed current issues associated with blight. Discussed both High Street progress and River Parc regarding blight related issues. Appears that owners of High Street property agree that the structure needs to come down. Will continue to work with property owners to remove the structure. Working with the owners of River Parc to reapply for Special Use Permit. If River Parc does not address specific items the City will commence civil infractions and fines.
