MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MINUTES OF DECEMBER 13, 2011 The Manistee City Council met in a work session on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 7: 00 p.m., Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee MI 49660. MEMBERS PRESENT: Colleen Kenny, Catherine Zaring, Beth Adams, Bob Hornkohl, Alan Marshall, Sid Scrimger, Ilona Haydon MEMBERS ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Department Directors, Public and Media Presentation by MDOT on US-31 & Bridge Intersection Improvements. Rick Liptak from the Michigan Department of Transportation made a presentation on their 2012 intersection improvements at Memorial Drive, Taylor Street, Lincoln Street and the construction of a left turn lane at Harrison. Construction is scheduled from September 4, 2012 to mid-October 2012. Numerous questions were asked by City Council, as well as MDOT, regarding informing adjoining property owners of the proposed changes. Discussion on First Street Beach Improvements. City Manager Mitch Deisch opened discussion on proposed improvements to the First Street Beach area in 2012. A presentation was made regarding three specific projects: First Street upgrade, Fish Cleaning Station, and the First Street Beach House. Went over plans and estimated timelines for eac project. Had three specific points of discussion: 1. Removal of current bathroom and concession stand as soon as practical. Council supported. 2. Removal of current beach house as soon as possible.
