MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MINUTES OF JANUARY 10, 2012 The Manistee City Council met in a work session on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 7: 00 p.m., Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee MI 49660. MEMBERS PRESENT: Colleen Kenny, Catherine Zaring, Beth Adams, Bob Hornkohl, Alan Marshall, Sid Scrimger, Ilona Haydon MEMBERS ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Department Directors, Public and Media Discussion on Airport Authority Bylaws. City Manager Mitch Deisch gave a brief explanation of why this item was on the agenda. Councilmember Alan Marshall provided his perspective of the City not relinquishing their Airport Authority seat and provided several reasons for his position. Ross Spencer, Airport Authority board member addressed Council and provided his reasoning why the Airport Authority Bylaw Committee chose to make this recommendation to remove the City seat. Council did not support Mr. Spencer' s position. Council directed the City Manager to meet with the County Administrator and the Airport Director to determine all the issues and determine how to move forward. Discussion on Z11- 01 Waterfront Development Zoning Ordinance Amendment. Denise Blakeslee from the Planning and Zoning Department made a thorough presentation to Council on the Zoning Ordinance, Waterfront Zoning and Public Assembly. She also reviewed the City Zoning map and identified all parcels in the City that are more than 5 acres in size. Discussed Z11- 01, Council consensus was to remove the north parcel from the peninsula and Sand Products property. Staff will make this change.
