MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MINUTES OF MARCH 12, 2013 The Manistee City Council met in a work session on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 7 p.m., Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee MI 49660. MEMBERS PRESENT: Colleen Kenny, Catherine Zaring, Beth Adams, Eric Gustad, Ed Cote, Robert Goodspeed MEMBERS ABSENT: Bob Hornkohl OTHERS PRESENT: Department Directors, Media and Public Discussion onCommunity Development Department White Paper. The Community Development Department White Paper was presented to Council at the regular meeting of March 5, 2013. City Manager Mitch Deisch opened up the dialog with Council and discussed several aspects of the paper. Council directed numerous questions to staff, which were answered. Staff focused on the need for this plan to be viewed as a future planning guide for the City. Discussed option that will be incorporated into the draft fiscal year budget. Some Council voiced a concern that they wanted to make sure adequate funds were available for a transition plan to be successful. 2012 Capital Project Update. Community Development Director Jon Rose presented updates and timelines on the Fish Cleaning Station, First Street Shelter, SSES Project, and the Small Urban Grant application for Kosciusko. Discussion was held on several of the projects. Regular updates will be made to Council throughout the construction season during work sessions. Council requested that additional milestone dates be incorporated into future timelines in regards to capital projects.
