MANISTEE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION MINUTES OF MAY 14, 2013 The Manistee City Council met in a work session on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 7 p. m., Council Chambers, City Hall, 70 Maple Street, Manistee MI 49660. MEMBERS PRESENT: Colleen Kenny, Catherine Zaring, Beth Adams, Eric Gustad, Ed Cote, Robert Goodspeed, Bob Hornkohl MEMBERS ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Department Directors, Media and Public Discussion on Agenda Format. Council has discussed in the past the policy for reading letters received from the public during public comment periods. The proposed revised language on the agenda format addresses and clarifies that question. Consensus: Council discussed and supported the new agenda language with the change that the Mayor shall ( replacing may) recognize citizens in attendance. Council emphasized that citizens are welcome to read their own letters into the public record. 2013 Capital Project Update. Staff presented updates and timelines on the Fish Cleaning Station, First Street Beach Pavilion, Maple Street Drainage project, Kosciusko Street project, SSES, and the Rotary Park Playground. Of particular note, Utility Staff discovered a large source of storm water entering the sanitary system at Maple and River this morning. This cross- connection was addressed. Regular updates will be made to Council throughout the construction season during work sessions. Miscellaneous Updates. Updated Council on progress being made to greater utilize social media for promoting the City and informing the public. Please like us on Facebook.
