Members Present: Gary Makinen, Lynne Reinhardt, Ben Kubiak, Henry Bergman, Mark Tomaszewski Members Absent: JohnRozga, Wendy Staffeld, Ja,mie Catlett, Catherine Zaring, Dr. Ron Cowden and Avery Bell Youth ( Observer) Also Present: Kathie Boyle, Gary Niesen A joint meeting ofthe 1Vlanistee Parks and Beautificaxion Committee was held on Thursday,May 14, 2009 in the 2'Floor Conference Room, City Hall. Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Lynne Reinhazdt at 5: 30 p. m. OLD BUSINESS K.Boyle will send "thank you"letters to Morning Rotary and Sports Inc. for their contributions to the scoreboard at the Shuffleboard Courts. Pictures were shown pictures of a community that installed a butterfly garden,and it is very beautiful. A dedication plaque will be placed at the sight of our garden stating that the `Beautification Comxnittee paid for this project with their own funds - no city tax dollars were used. Flower boxes will be plamed by local florists, and ea.ch box will include flowers and stones. Each flower box will have a plaque on the flower box which will include the name of the florist, their address and phone number. Boxes should be planted by May 30, 2009. rrEw BusnvESs Annual Parks Tour Brochures"to distribute to residents and Comrn.ittee members were handed out " post anywhere they see an available bulletin board. Members taking brochures to distribute: Lynne-from Hallmark to Sewing Ma.chine Store Gary - from Sewing Machine Store to House of Flavors Henry - vvest side of River Street from River & Maple to the Vogue Mark - from the Vogue to Goody's Ben - distribute to the local clubs Just a reminder - Paxks Tour - Thursday, June 18, 2009 - bring a friend and remember to call Kathie at 723- 7132 to reserve yow spot. Mark Tomaszewski commented on the great work Jason Thompson is doing on the Riverwalk - everything is looking good.
