PARKS ANDBEA OUTIFICATION COPZMISSI ON NOTES Wednesday, October 21, 2009 S:1 S P. M. Members Present: Lynne Reinhardt, Ma.rk Tomaszewski,Priscilla Rulison, Ron Cowden, John Rozga Members Eacused: Ben Kubiak, Wendy Staffeld, Ed Tegler, Gary Niesen, Ka.thie Boyle A meeting ofthe Manistee Parks and Beautificatian Cammission was held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in the 2'Floor Conference Room, City Hall. Me+ eting was called to order by Chairperson Lynne Reinhardt at 5:15 p.m. A MOTION by Priscilla, Second by Mark to adapt the September 16, 2009 minutes and place on file. OLD BUSINESS Morton Park - Contract was reviewed. A subcommittee consisting of inembers John Rozga, Mark Tomaszewski and Wendy Staffeld was appointed to study grant applications and the feasibility of T- Ball field at Morton Park - would ask the Manistee Recreation Association to also be involved. Commission members were reminded that November 4, 2009 is our report to City Council, and Lynne reviewed commission activities to date. Butterfly Garden Clean up to occur the week of October 20,2009, Cowden, Rulison and Reinhardt to assist. Signs will be stored at the City Marina. Fund Ra.ising - Ideas were briefly discussed - commission will discuss ideas again at a future meeting. Fish Wall at First Street Bea.ch -fish have been replaced an the wall. Lynne and Carol Fox raused the funding thru the sale of stationery notes at the fall festival. Garden Photos will be mounted and displayed at City Hall in January 2010. NEW BUSINESS A consensus of the cammission to set aside $ 500 to establish a 2010 "winter garden"alongside the Butterfly Garden. Lynne will seek matching funds. Shuffleboard game and instructions were discussed. Need new sign next installed next spring. Manistee Art Institute - discussed the misundersta.ndings between our commission and the NIIA. Next meeting date: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 5:1 S p.m. - in the second floor conference room.
