CITY OF MANISTEE PARKS AND BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION MINUTES Thursday, June 16, 2011 5: 15 P.M. Members Present: Mark Tomaszewski, Darci Scott, John Rozga, Priscilla Rulison, Ed Teglar, Wendy Staffeld and Chair Lynne Reinhardt Members Absent: Ben Kubiak Also Present: Gary Niesen, Kathie Boyle, City of Manistee A regular meeting of the Manistee Parks and Beautification Commission was held on Thursday, 2nd June 16, 2011 at City Hall — Floor Conference Room. Meeting was called to order by Chair Lynne Reinhardt at 5: 15 p.m. Motion by Priscilla, second by John to accept the May 19, 2011 minutes and place on file. OLD BUSINESS d Bus Tour— Reminder bus tour will be Saturday, July 2" at 1. 1: 00 a. m. Bus boarding will be at City Hall on the Water Street side. Bus will hold approximately twenty five people; participants will receive a coupon for a free hot dog, chips and drink when the bus stops at Fifth Avenue Beach House. Ed will hand out bus tour brochures and coupons at the beginning of the tour. If there are too many participants, members will allow visitors first choice of seats. Advertisements for the tour were made up by Kathie and distributed to members to place in various locations throughout the city. Invitations were sent to City Council and Planning Commission members. Bylaws/ Ordinance — Chair Lynne reviewed commission bylaws and ordinance. Members asked to study and consider any changes to the bylaws / ordinance for next meeting. We will also be voting on officers, Lynne felt that consideration should be given for the secretary of the commission do the minutes and more of the correspondence. NEW BUSINESS Shuffleboard Courts— Priscilla asked if the courts were being utilitized and where the equipment is stored. Gary informed the commission that the equipment is put in the boat/ dock/gas pump house. Ed volunteered to make up a sign with shuffleboard hours and where the equipment is stored. COMMENTS Fifth Avenue Beach area is looking great, lots of positive compliments received regarding the sand removal. Commission would like to see the light pole at the site of the old NIA building back in service. Gary informed that commission that hopefully by 4th of July the City will have 2 3 grills and picnic tables out. John thanked Lynne for all her hard work on the commission and requested she consider being a liaison to our commission. Lynne is willing to attend a meeting when asked and if available. Due to a conflicting schedule Ed requested the July meeting be moved to the second week of July. Consensus of commission to change meeting date. Kathie will check city calendar and notify members of new date. See Below. Consensus to adjourn.
