MeetingwascalledtoorderbyCorrespondingSecretary LynnVasquezat5:02p.m. NEWBUSINESS UnitedVeteransCouncil –KendraThompsonofKendraThompsonArchitectsprovidedanupdateand drawingonthe “ProposedPhaseIIExpansionatVeteranPark” Detailsincludeenhancementstothepark, alsoengagingtheyouthofourcommunitywherehighschoolseniorswouldcompeteforascholarshipto besthonoragroupofveteransorasingleindividual. Discussionfollowed: NeedapprovalfromBlueStartorelocatesign. NorthRiverwalkisbecomingaissue – VeteransCouncilisveryinterestedinassisting development. VeteransCouncilwillcontinueprojectwithassistancefromtheCityasinthepast,ie.mowing, generalupkeep. FundingwillcomethrutheVeteransCouncil –nocosttotheCity. ZielinskiaskedifHarbor Commissionneededtobenotifiedofexpansion, Deischbelieves theydonotbut willnotify. City Managerwillpreparememoandattached drawingtoCityCouncilforanupcomingcouncilmeeting. OLDBUSINESS UpdateonFirstStreetBeach/RocketPark CityManagerprovidedinformationonRocketPark. In December2013theCityreceivednoticefromtheStateofMichiganapprovingourgrantapplication, butis requiring additionalinformationwhichwassubmittedlastweek. Applicationnow proceeds tothe FederalParksfortheirreview. Cityshouldhearbackin60 –90days,Citywillbegoodtogowhen noticedisreceived. Thiswillbeacommunityprojecthopefullybuiltinlatesummer/earlyfall. AdoptaPark Noupdates. Vasquezwillscheduleworksession. FirstStreetRoundabout Thisisadesignatedtrafficareanotawalkwayweneedtokeepinmindthat whateverwechoosewillnotcauseasafetyissue. Pontiacfeltahistoricalscenewhichwouldnotcausea distraction. NEWBUSINESS IceSkatingRink MikulaupdatedcommissiononmeetingheldwiththeTeenCenterBoardandtheCity ofManistee. Thecityhasinvestigatedintopurchasingacompleteiceskatingsystemwhichwould includeliner,bracketsystemandprotectivekickplates. Thissystemwouldbemucheasiertomaintain andsustain, whichcouldprovidealongerskatingseason. CityCouncilwillbeaskedfortheirsupport andapplytothelocalrevenuesharingboardfor50%ofthe $12,000cost. CouncilStrategicPlan2014/15 Deischupdatedcommissiononcouncilstrategicplanswhichincludes theiceskatingrink,resurfacingSandsParktenniscourts,FifthAvenueareaofoldN.I.A.building, also AdoptAPark” conceptwillbeincludedinthisplan. Councilwillalsowillbelookingforadesignated areafordogsata beachandwillbeaskingforrecommendationsfromParks & Beautification Commission.
